terrible worst night out ever and expensive waste of time
where to start - summary: all 4 of us were left fuming at the catalogue of disasters from start to finish - booked 7.30 - had to wait until 8.15 to be seated - we have trains to catch back so not a good start - rip off bar prices , shambolic service , very average food and well over priced - zero service , had to fight to get attention , bill came with lots of deserts on it - that we did not have - and now did not have time to eat - missed our train home - and for the kicker - my birthday and the voucher i had been given was not accepted after 6pm !!!! i could go on but i am sure you get the idea - and it cost me £300 for the dis - pleasure and the embarrassment it caused dragging my friends there. never again . i will also speak to my credit card company and be leaving more reviews about this terrible night - not to mention telling anyone i can to avoid this crappy rip off experience.

the view was exceptional however everything else was downhill. we waiting over 45 mins for a coke and over an hour for 1 drink from the bar! the meal came out incorrect and when they swapped it over it was cold. the manager had absolutely no interest that we waiting so long for a drink - her response was “and…”

going from london and knowing a major chef’s expectations for his restaurant - he would be so disappointed! playing rap songs in a restaurant like this….ridiculous.

great ambience, halal food options available. views from the rooftop are amazing. however drinks are overpriced. would recommend a visit if you're around birmingham

i only visited the bar whilst on a night out with friends. it has a fantastic lively atmosphere and is a great place to sit outside on a summers evening, with views across the city. cocktails are priced a bit steep, but then i suppose it’s because of the location. i hope to return and try the food one day when i’m feeling flush!

this is like the go to restaurant when the pocket is a bit tight :)

they have changed their menu recently and have more vegetarian options now. one should definitely try the mushroom mac n cheese - really nice!!

just make sure to register your car at the reception else you might get a parking ticket like i did :(

marco pierre white rooftop bar is perched on top of the city cente square. the bar itself elegant, like a modern hotel bar. at the rooftop bar, a sunset with the views of the london skyline is absolutely fantastic. the drinks are tailored for tourists and this shows on the quite high price tag.there is 3 other branches around london i tried only this now and it was simply amazing. there was even violinist and she was superbe....

total disaster. booking problems, poor steaks incorrectly cooked. service that really were going through the motions. yes  great view but that's about it.  totally overpriced thought we could save the night at the bar afterwards but even here the staff were dismissive.

this is a stake house being franchised under the brand of a celebrity chef. the restaurant is located on the top floor of the cube in central birmingham and the great views being its main usp. coming to the food well it is o.k for what they charge for it. nothing special in terms of great food in my opinion. to enjoy this joint i would recomened drinks and tappas rather than a meal. have fun !!

if you’ve never been to marco’s, the view is breathtaking up on level 25 of the cube, with floor to ceiling glass walls and panoramic views of birmingham. whatever you think of the city, it looks beautiful all lit up at night, especially the german market, the big wheel & library of birmingham.

what: steakhouse

where: mailbox - birmingham central

value: £40pp - pricey
food review: the restaurant is owned my renowned marco pierre white, so you expect the food to be of high standard. this halal establishment did not disappoint. to get to the restaurant, you first had to take the lift through the hotel to reach the establishment which showcased a rooftop view complete with bar area.
a good range of cocktails were available but i stuck to the original pina coloda - didn't stand out, but was not complaining. the food tasted of high quality and produced a well seasoned and made steak, alongside country pub style chips and creamy spinach.
as it was a my birthday, a creme brulee with happy birthday was written upon it. not only was it all for me but it was a delicious, creamy creme brulee. alll in all, not a disappointment, until the bill.
settings review: set in the heart of birmingham, high in the sky of one of birmingham's modern iconic building, boasting stunning views and the one of the best places to see the surrounding area. the decor is also modern and clean cut to represent the feel of the restaurant.

positives: high quality food, good steak

negatives: expensive.

dreadful customer service, don't buy an amazon voucher. they feel that they can change their terms and conditions whenever they feel like it, give false information and not take any responsibility! even when escalated to manager (james robertson) we were treated with no respect. it was evident that we were just a number and they didn't care to rectify their mistakes. avoid, avoid, avoid if you have any sense!

located on the 25th floor of new landmark the cube, the marco pierre white steakhouse bar and grill is the first restaurant in birmingham to offer 360 degree views of the city. dine birmingham invited famous local lady alison hammond along to sample fine dining served in an empire state of mind.

as i waited at the bar for my lunch date, itv1’s this morning reporter and local doyenne alison hammond, i regretted not making it an evening booking. admiring a twinkling city below which could be anywhere in the world, would send the glamour quota of this already glitzy venue through the roof.

when alison arrived we were shown to our table in the chic and spacious restaurant area. the hearty all-day menu includes a pleasing number of other dishes as well as steak. for starters, i opted for the six-month cured coppa ham moscardo di cremona, a colourful dish so beautifully presented that i spent a few moments gazing at it! mostardo di cremona is an italian preserve of candied fruit and a mustard flavoured syrup. the sweet/spicy tang perfectly complemented the ham and the portion was so generous i had no desire to touch the bread basket.

alison ordered the calamari, which were very flavoursome. starters aside, marco pierre white seriously caters for the comfort eater. i could have kissed the waiter for recommending the roast rump of lamb a la dijonnaise with pommes dauphinois. the meat was succulent, juicy and very pink, and the potatoes were crispy on top and super-creamy inside. alison opted for the pork belly marco polo and butter beans but because of the “mmm” noises i was making, couldn’t hide her food envy!

my starter and mains were nicely matched with merlot cabernet sauvignon. teetotal alison kept refreshed with coke. both of us were mindful of being in detox january, so it was disappointing to discover that the kitchen had run out of spinach. we were somewhat appeased, however, with very tasty roasted vegetables as a side dish.

marco pierre white is known for classic, rich english puddings. egging each other on, we decided to order three to share! crème brulee, bread and butter pudding and sticky toffee pudding helped us to end our indulgent lunch magnificently! afterwards we were given a tour of the suitably a-list style laurent perrier champagne lounge, also on the 25th floor of the cube.

alison’s verdict

“it’s a fabulous location with great views and food. the company wasn’t too shabby either! i love really sweet puddings so the bread and butter pudding, sticky toffee pudding and the accompanying sauces went down a treat. the crème brulee was sadly one pudding too many – even for both of us!”

all style but no substance. loved the buzz, loved the view, felt sorry for the staff who were rushed off their feet with too few of them trying to cover too many tables. the food, when it eventually came, was ok but nowhere near the standard we'd expected for the price or marco pierre white's reputation, so although we enjoyed the evening i don't think we'd rush back.

also, i contacted the management with a few constructive comments and heard nothing back, so i guess they don't care what we think anyway. and it showed.

great view. sometimes even great service. but food is average and the service just too uneven to justify the price tag. enjoy the view over a glass of wine as the sun goes down but you could do better for your meal.
