a “west coast cafe,” it’s kind of confusing to the midwestern mindset in its set-up, but once you do get a seat, the bright decor and the light, balanced menu grows on you quickly.

the interior is beautiful - like something joanna gaines created. i love the dark tile, hanging lights and large, wooden booths.the menu has a special section for "toast," which i was excited about.i decided to go with the namesake "maplewood." it had avocado, pistachios, local honey and sea salt. pretty tasty! and here's a lemon ricotta pancake! mmm.

my first visit to this place for lunch. decent veg options.
tried few items of their menu - veggie burger, avocado toast, pancakes...found them to be ok in taste

can give it a shot for sure

finally had a chance to stop here yesterday for a late breakfast and it was as good as my wife said it would be. i had the avocado benedict with two nicely poached eggs and asparagus of all things. this was very tasty and the side of goetta was very good. i like how you get your own coffee refills since they only have servers not wait staff. you order first then they bring the food out to you. wife had the yogurt and granola and she is not the biggest fan of greek yogurt but she definitely liked this dish. she also thought the tea was okay but not great where as i felt the coffee selection was very good. 

definitely not the cheapest place to eat breakfast in town but not a bad option either.

you may not find the teas they offer in the menu, but do check the board behind the cashier.
a heads up, their portions are heavy. having said that, i arrived here starving after a long flight. i ordered a alpenglow red tea and chicken hash(not in pictures). they have very good quality tea. very refreshing tea it was. moving on to the brunch item, the chicken hash. the flavour was similar to how some people prefer their pastas. but, this had a more wholesome all-round flavour.
i would definitely recommend this for a breakfast/brunch. the staff if amazing. the guy a counter was very very energetic. we are normally that energetic over the entire week cumulatively.

last friday our evening plans were unexpectedly canceled.  part of me wanted to stay in, take a gloriously long nap, put on my pj’s, and bin watch episodes of the british baking show! friday after work can be brutal.  but, i knew my husband was looking forward to checking out the grand opening of braxton’s new lab so i freshened my face, put on a cute outfit, and decided to make the best of a beautiful evening.  i am so incredibly thankful i did because friday night turned out to be the best date night ever and 99% was completely spontaneous.

how does this place have such a low rating?! it's amazing! been here several times and the food is always amazing. maybe people aren't a fan of the fast casual...but it's fast casual. kind of straight forward.

definitely a great place. if you like the eagle or bakersfield you will like this place.

also look at the reviews on google. there aren't many reviews on here so the rating is artificially low

there are so many new restaurants in cincinnati it can definitely be overwhelming - especially downtown. i feel like i could eat somewhere new every day! . some of my friends were talking up maplewood kitchen & bar so we decided to try it for a group lunch. maplewood comes from the folks at thunderdome restaurant group (the eagle, bakersfield, krueger's tavern) so it's got quite a reputation to uphold.

maplewood kitchen and bar, located at the base of the 84.51 building, is yet another hit from the wildly successful thunderdome restaurant group, the same people who brought us the ubiquitous currito chains, bakersfield otr, krueger's tavern and the eagle. these guys are experts at turning eateries into gold and their good fortune is well deserved.

breakfast and lunch is good!! dinner is a waste of your time and money ( unless you are having a salad for dinner). also the "servers don't work but, won't to get paid.

great food, great service, great staff, great bar, great atmosphere. this is turning into my go to lunch restaurant. i'm excited for maplewood to open for dinner!
