the cakes at this bakery are just ok. there is nothing great about them. you're better off buying from somewhere else. the carrot cake isn't very good. tastes more like a spice cake. pass this one up.

tried their tortas and pastry. we had the atlantic torta and one of their daily special torta. both were good and filling. the bread was perfectly toasted. we tried their tea and it was a tad bit too sweet. their raspberry chocolate cupcake was super good. loved it. the place is clean and service was fast.

delicious! the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was cozy. the food was to die for! the pear tort and the chocolate croissant were the best i've ever tasted. the coffee was simple and rich.

the tortas and desserts are all good. they also have caldos and pozole that are worth trying. i was also pleasantly surprised with my chia seed and kiwi lemonade aqua fresca. i'm looking forward to going back and trying more.

the passion is back.... so. here we are again writing reviews after an insane move from colorado, the mecca of beautiful, delicious, hole-in-the-wall organic restaurants. san antonio: impress me.

one of the first places i wanted to frequent (due to the great reviews) was malinalli. as usual, it was an excellent decision.

there is a quiet passion that lingers in the air at malinalli; influences from mexico and the south americas that dance in tempo with a european flair.

service is excellent and as quick as can be with fresh dishes. the lovely couple that run the bistro are hospitable, beautiful, and truly passionate about their food. simple dishes, laced with flavor and refined in perfect portions, are completely satisfying.

don't pass this one up, this little bistro is the perfect combination of love, devotion to simplicity and calm atmosphere.

(side note: if you are looking for authentic mexican bolillos, look no further!!!! come here and get them before they disappear for the day.)

this was a great find!. this is a lovely cafe/bakery where everything is crafted and cooked with good taste and done well. they bake fresh bread and croissants --they are fantastic!!! i really do not know where else one could have a sandwich with squid with ink around here... so food is not boring, it is sophisticated. family owned places like this where everything is done with care are common in rome or paris, it is just great there is one in san antonio.

pleasant surprise. what a warm and inviting place! it was lovely to be greeted with a smile on a chilly rainy day. i was searching for crepes and malinalli did not disappoint. they were delicate with a flavorful bechamel sauce that i will order again. (will probably coax a friend to share a plate to leave room for the desserts that were taunting me.) the coffee is bold and my cup was kindly refilled without asking. looking forward to watching this bistro blossom as the neighborhood figures out what a treasure it is.

great find!. i wondered across this place with my two kids. we wanted a quick dinner. i really liked the unique style sandwiches (tortas). the valenciana (calamari) and the del atlantic (salmon) are delicious sandwich (tortas) combination! and to finish the meal , the kids had some extremely lovely cupcakes. this bistro had a friendly family feel. i will return.
