main event

here now, all good. on business travel, went on recommendation on hotel. sat at bar, nice choice of beers. bartender attentive and kept water and beer full. asked her for reccomdation on 2 dinner option. she chose the lobster shrimp ravoili and it is awesome. she also was spot on with local beer recommendation. i would definately reccommend this place. music on but not loud or obnoxius. it is a bar and i wish it was down the block from my home.

they surpass all expectations for a sports bar!!. my second visit to this place just about a year after the first made me very happy. i’m not in this neck of the woods much... but when i’m here this is a go to kind of place. it’s a great sports bar... plenty of screens, friendly environment but it has unexpectedly upscale food. chilean sea bass anyone?! they do the usual... wings and sliders... and they do that well. but they also do healthy alternatives... lentil soup, incredible hummus, tasty salads. i’ve been here with large groups both times and everyone left happy. great tap selection. especially friendly service. last year we were trying to set up a special event and management was very cooperative. our event fell through... but they were great about it all.

lively place for burgers and beers. food was standard and the staff attentive. good atmosphere with plenty of tv with sports to keep you occupied while dining. this place will do in a pinch.

ok sports bar!. after reading all of the inconsistent reviews on line, i questioned whether i was going to dine at this restaurant. meanwhile, we ordered burgers and chicken souvlaki, and both were very good. in fact this was one of the better burgers i have had in a sports bar. the restaurant has several flat screen tv’s perfectly situated to watch sporting events. i would go back for a burger and a beer to watch a sporting event here since it is close by. there is a rumor that the owners own a seafood wholesale company, so next time i will try the seafood dishes.

horrible people. dave, not only are the waitresses rude but the owner is the dumbest man i’ve ever met.
my wife and i took my son there for dinner for his 21st birthday.
we ordered drinks, when my wife tasted hers, she didn’t like the way it was mixed, she was going to send it back and order something easier for them to make, but my 21 year old son said, don’t worry mom, i’ll take it, you order something else.
when the waitress saw him take the drink, she ran over and made a big loud issue,
my 21-year-old son, took out his drivers license to show her his age but she didn’t even want to see it, i asked for the manager and when the owner came, he didn’t want to see it ether, he said who ever ordered the drink has to drink it.
well we all got up and left
we’ll never go back there again,
it does have that stupid biker mentality

the food was fair, and i felt the waitress was on the rude side.

the new main even in farmingdale. first things first: this review is for the second location of the main event, recently opened on rte. 110 in farmingdale, ny, having taken over the huge space that was once kodiaks. we were seated right away, even tho' it was already 6:30 on thursday and they were busy. as i said, this place is very, very big. if you get overwhelmed by lots of tvs, skip it, as main event boasts 50! i was pleased to see tiara, one of the best servers from kodiaks, had stuck around. i had heard the owners also own a seafood wholesale company so i had to try the seafood. much to my delight, there was a whole special menu of seafood in addition to their regular voluminous menu. so, our order: 2 gin & tonics (excellent), 1 appetizer of steamers, 1 entrée of soft shelled crabs francaise over a rice pilaf, and 1 order of fettuccini alfredo w/ shrimp, chicken & broccoli. ($75.00 total bill - very reasonable)
i knew we were in for a good meal once i tasted the steamers (for the uninitiated, like clams, but w/ a tail). our server came out with a large covered bowl full of them, hot & steaming, along with bowls of hot melted butter & clam broth. more than enough for both of us. so we dug in and happily, and not one single clam in that bowl had a spec of sand in it! wow. our entrées came with salad (house or caesar). you don't see that much anymore. it was fresh, crisp and the blue cheese dressing was really chunky. my entrée of fettuccini was perfect, pasta cooked al dente', tender shrimp & moist chicken, rich sauce. as far as the soft shell crabs, my dining companion assured me they were excellent, deliciously prepared and way more than enough for dinner. (i'm not a fan) we both took food home.

i was told about this place by a friend and would never go back. i could make better food at home and not have people at the bar watching me eat. so basically why bother

neat place with crappy service, mgmnt and bar tenders which trash the entire concept of going out to enjoy yourself. how sad :~
