mai thai restaurant

here i am sitting at mai thai on a sunday night... writing this review... not busy at all (4-5 tables filled).... been here since 7 pm.. and now it is 7:49... still waiting for the third appetizer... ordered the chicken teriyaki but was told afterwards that they're out....also ordered sticky rice too.. guess what? out too... really?? btw... the kids whom are slow eaters finished their order of egg rolls in slow record time and i'm still waiting for the third appetizer... service could definitely be better... feel bad for the servers.. been here 3 times dining in and ordered take out numerous times prior to this review... was really hoping for a gem but this is really the nail in the coffin.. no more mai thai for us..

both entrees thai basil stir and pad sa eww were just so bland.. no flavor! over priced!! never again! and i def won’t recommend

just happened to try this place and was very happy. i had the papaya salad, laab issan and pad see ew. all were excellent, and medium spice was a good amount of heat. was kind of hoping to see mango sticky rice, but wasn't disappointed with the sticky rice and jalapeno sauce. i love sticky rice!

the food here is outstanding and authentic... there is a green chilli sauce that is carzy yummy!  i wish this place was closer to my house!

great food at very reasonable prices! dine in experience is very friendly with very basic booths and blah decorating but the food is the focus. spring rolls and pad thai were very tasty!

this is one my wife's and my favorite restaurants.  we love the neighborhood feel, and the view of the lake is great.  and the food is terrific.  we always order too many appetizers, because we love the spring rolls and the fried, spicy cashews.  i salivate thinking about them.  my wife really enjoys the pad thai, and i typically go for pork fried rice.  my brother-in-law believes it's not supper unless it makes you sweat, and their hot dishes ( not minnesota hotdish!) never fails.  a little sriracha on the side, and it can be as hot as you like.  we always have left-overs, and enjoy them the second time around just as much as the first time.  when we're in the mood for thai, this always hits the spot.

sorry but this was one of the worst meals out in a long time. service was fine but all 4 dishes that our table ordered were soul-less versions of something you would find in the freezer section. my pad thai was void of any seasoning, get some spice and develop a sauce for your dishes and you could have a winner, until then i will not be back.

love this place!. i absolutely love this restaurant! service is always great and the food is nothing less than exceptional! i absolutely love their fresh spring rolls and the green curry.

tasty & comfy. pleasant, comfortable, family friendly ambiance. friendly service. tasty thai food. reasonable prices. ample parking. mai thai may well be our family's favorite neighborhood restaurant; it tastes so good (the food, that is) !

exceptional restaurant!. myself and friends of mine eat here on a regular basis. the food is absolutely outstanding. my boyfriend and i eat out often, not just in the twin cities but when we travel nationally and internationally. this thai food is truly the best we have ever had. the food is fresh and the flavors are excellent. we have tried many dishes on the menu and have never been disappointed in a single dish. we have found the serving staff to be very friendly and accommodating and the owner of the restaurant is very dedicated to her customers. this restaurant gets a solid "a" rating from us.

bad. the service sucks, the food is over priced and the servers are rude. constantly having to ask for things. this place is dirty also.

hands-down - the best thai in the cities!. i love great thai. minneapolis has many great places - chang mai, tum rup thai, sawatdee, and others. mai thai is right up there with the big dogs. authentic and delicious cuisine with excellent service. do not miss this gem. i go at least once every couple weeks and every visit is just as great as the previous. joy even took our pic the other night! (must be a regular!) my favorites: spring rolls, sweet dried beef (i eat this with the sticky rice), vermicelli salads, pad thai..the list goes on.

explore fine thai cuisine at mai thai. i lived in thailand for several years when my dad was stationed there in the early 1960's and fell in love with thai cooking. never would i have guessed then that many years later i'd find great thai cuisine in a place like robbinsdale. the owner of mai thai, joy, is a talented chef and she and her staff are super friendly. let me cut to the chase here and say the chicken kabocha curry i selected was served piping hot and well seasoned with fragrances that left me wanting more. my wife selected beef laab served on a bed of lettuce with cucumber and that too was a tasty treat. joy advised she had some perfect mangos to go with sticky rice which made for a dreamy dessert. wow! it is time for more of my friends and neighbors to discover this wonderful eatery. joy told us they hope to soon be licensed to serve wine (they have a short list of beers available) and that should help boost their business. it is obvious that this restaurant is a labor of love for joy and i'd like to see her restaurant grow into a thriving business like her nearby neighboring restaurants travail and nonna rosa.

another great food restaurant in robbinsdale. robbinsdale has another winner for good food! admittedly some may call this place a dive as it is nothing special on the décor and is in an old mr. steak building but the owners care about the service and the food and it really shows. the chili sauce is a must to order with the spring rolls! have had the pad thai, spring rolls, thai basil stir fry and the hot & spicy soup. i very much enjoyed every one of these dishes. i can’t wait to go back and try more. being so close they are great for carry out orders. they will prepare the dishes as spicy or as mild as you wish and there are plenty of options for gluten free and choices of vegetarian, or selections of meats to add to the dishes.
