tough chicken. once again i ordered takeout. this time the singapore noodles were once again a winner. i also ordered the sesame chicken which was tasty, but very tough so i won't be ordering it again.

dinner for 2 x 2. i picked up takeout orders of hunan pork and orange chicken yesterday. both dishes included an adequate amount of meat and fresh vegetables. both dishes were good, but the orange chicken was the standout. we will be enjoying leftovers tomorrow night.

too spicy. our takeout order this week proved to be a disappointment. first off i noticed that there appeared to be 2 new chefs or at least these were different from the ones i have seen on prior visits. i ordered our usual singapore noodles plus shrimp and chicken hunan style and then went next door to do a little shopping. on my return i picked up our orders and noticed a gratuity had been included in my bill. i have been using restaurant.com certificates and though a 18% gratuity is stipulated on the certificate, i have been assessed this charge in the past. not a deal breaker, but an unpleasant surprise.

we immediately noticed on opening the container of singapore noodles that there was not as much protein (shrimp and chicken) as usual. the big surprise came when tasted it - one of the chefs cranked up the spice level to the point where it was close to uneatable and totally unbalanced. in fact we ate very little of it and tossed the remained in the garbage. we fared much better with the shrimp and chicken hunan style which was delicious.

skip the chow fun. we are gradually working our way through the menu via take out. we called in the order 20 minutes in advance, but i still had to wait 10 minutes as the restaurant was very busy on wednesday. this week we tried the chicken curry with onion, chow fun with pork and stir fried mixed vegetables. the chicken curry was a definite hit - lots of chicken and veggies in a spicy sauce. the chow fun noodles that stuck together and there was entirely too much soy sauce. the stir fried veggies were tasty, but slightly overcooked. i will not be reordering the chow fun noodles.

called in advance. second take out dinner was as good plus i learned to call in the order ahead. this time we ordered the singapore noodles again plus hunan chicken, both were very good though there was a little less shrimp and more chicken in the singapore noodles this time.

call in your order. we do not usually order take out food at restaurants, but i saw a restaurant.com gift certificate and decided to give it a try last night. this is primarily a take out restaurant with only 2 tables for four available and both were occupied on my arrival at 5:30pm. there were approximately 8 people sitting or milling around waiting for the take out orders with 1 couple dining in. there was one person handling the orders and 2 others cooking in the back.

i ordered hot and sour soup, singapore noodles and chicken with snow peas and was shocked when i was told it would be 20 minutes. i decide to do some grocery shopping at shop rite. i returned just short of 20 minutes later and was assured my order was coming soon. over the following 20-25 minutes everyone ahead of me, many phone in orders and several people that arrived after me received their orders. apparently they had run out of the hot and sour soup and prepared a new batch for me which was regrettable since i would have taken a pass rather wait.

on returning home we enjoyed the food which was very fresh and flavorful. the singapore noodles had a good amount of shrimp and pork and had a spiciness that we enjoyed. the other entrée included an ample supply of both chicken and snow peas. we saved the hot and soup for lunch the day following and enjoyed immensely along with our leftovers from the previous night.

i would not hesitate to return for takeout, but i will be calling my order in ahead of time.

had a groupon...so they decided to charge me 15% on top of the bill to make up for the discount they agreed to. they called it "gratuity". i've never been forced to pay a gratuity...especially for take out. will not go back here. food was ok, but not worth $45 for dinner for 2 and a forced gratuity.

we've been stopping there for years on our drive from boston to new york. just a little takeot place with 3 or 4 tables, but reliably good food. i always begin with their combination egg drop / wonton soup. yum!
