blueberry coffee cake (dish review). this coffee cake, which easily beats that of hobee's, is thick, rich, and filling. all that description fails to mention how tasty this sweet is. the crust is simply perfect and the soft inside is dense and chalk-full of fresh blueberries from a local farm. as a side, it is only a few dollars, but when added to an already enormous dish, it is the deal of the century.

joe's special (dish review). joe's special - the classic scrambled egg dish served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner - has found a home outside of original joe's. lou's does a great version of this dish, simply perfected by an exquisite coffee cake and tasty country potatoes. the portion was extremely large, with enough food to happily fill three contained in one entree with a price tag of $8.99.

lou's (american/breakfast/lunch). i am in love with lou's. open since 1960, lou's has been serving hungry south bay patrons delicious food from home and abroad. farm fresh ingredients highlight this menu full of traditional and not-so-traditional breakfast and lunch entrees. eggs benedict is one of the cafe's specialties, as 6-10 are offered whose styles range from classic to crab. omeletes and scrambles are featured as well, all of which are paired with lou's amazing coffee cake and country potatoes. nearly every item is under $10, which is good because the store takes exclusively cash, and cash alone. the hours of operation end at three, and i encourage anyone who happens to be in the far south bay to swing by my new favorite breakfast stop.
