there's a lot of competition along this strip and this restaurant could do a better job of food quality to match the view. just average!

loved the view of the bay! service and food were both delightful. best clam chowder i have had in a long time. i highly recommend louie linguini's.

great location and good view of monterey bay if you can get a table at the rear side of the restaurant. cioppino’s special looked spectacular and the classic clam chowder in the bread is good. pizzas and the market lasagna were ok. we had linguini spaghetti which fared very good.

after visiting the aquarium and shopping on cannery row, it was time for some lunch. there were several possibilities in the neighborhood, and we chose louie linguini's. the restaurant is upstairs, and we were able to get a window table, with a beautiful view overlooking monterey bay.

well, being that we were at an italian restaurant, i wasn't surprised that swmbo chose the chicken parmesan. she liked the chicken, and said the side of spaghetti was one of the best she has had at a restaurant.

i looked for something with a seafood theme, given that we were right beside the ocean. shrimp linguini seems to fit the bill. tender shrimp and mushrooms sautéed with garlic butter in a lemon herb sauce, with fresh spinach and romano cheese. yum.

now time for more sightseeing.

well, i can die now. the cioppino was over the top and i am fulfilled. generous portion and really fair price. great ambiance with outdoor oceanside seating.

i usually do my research and have a list of food places to eat at whenever we travel, but this particular day was not planned until the night before (due to us getting into monterey much later than expected and having to postpone our meeting with our friends until the next morning), so i had nothing planned for lunch. before our friends left us for their camping trip, they advised us to look out for pots of chowder outside restaurants offering free samples so that we could try-before-we-buy. we didn't walk very far from the aquarium on cannery row before encountering a girl serving up samples of hot chowder from louie linguini's. we've learnt to make quick decisions whenever we go out with our two kids, as we no longer have the luxury of 'shopping around'. when hubby and i agreed that we liked the chowder, we took a quick look at the menu next to the girl to confirm the availability of variety that were not too expensive, and we promptly entered the restaurant. louie linguini had a large dining area, with some outdoor tables, and the harbour views were lovely. the service was great, the menu offered a wide range of dishes, and serving sizes were generous. it was a bit of a novelty eating clam chowder from a bread bowl, but it wasn't our first experience, and while louie linguini's clam chowder was tasty, we had a better one the next day (you'll just have to wait for the review for that one). overall it is a family-friendly restaurant conveniently close to the aquarium, serving tasty seafood and a good version of clam chowder in a bread bowl.

the food was tasty, good service. that said, nothing to write home about. little steep for the quality.

the service and the view were great, but the food was awful. i ordered the insalata caprese and the tomatoes were grainy and made me gag. my mom ordered a salad that was was absolutely lacking as well. the clam chowder was only so-so. i don't plan to return.

great. i went there with my 5 children and 2 grand children and was pleasently surprized with fast service, great waitress and good food. what more can you ask for? they were very accomadating for a party of 8 with 6 children! i will definitely go back.

the fried artichoke hearts are divine, the snapper fish n chips were delicious and the view was great. service was very friendly and helpful and it was very pleasant experiance. smell when you walk in was a bit fishy but 3 minutes later it was fine.

it can be a bit balmy in the dining room. i've had the cioppino 3 times. the broth is enfused with anise and is amazing. consistency needs improvement.

great chowder! i agree the service was a little slow. i had the rarely seen "pasta ala carbonara" with the eggs and pancetta instead of bacon and cream sauce. the fried beef ravioli were tasty once they were heated properly. the decor is dated.

clam chowder....... the free sample of clam chowder doesn't come close the taste of the full cup. fried shrimp was fried and battered perfectly, cole slaw was perfect. if you wan't a good quick meal go to louie and order the pasta.
