outstanding! a friend and i .... outstanding! a friend and i went there late saturday night and had great service, wonderful food and overall perfect experience!

we had the 50/50 soup mix as well as the lamb shoulder. it was excellent. we also had an order of the beef ribs (like "bul ko gi" from a korean restaurant) and they were very, very good.

surprisingly, they have a lot of vegetarian entrees too. we had an order of pea sprouts which were great when cooked in the boiling soup. it comes in a big metal bowl which sits on an induction plate in the center of every table.

i plan to go back. five stars!

avoid if you are not asian!. it had been several years since my visit to another mongolian hot pot location in union city. although we lived nearby, we stopped going because we noticed that caucasian diners (which were a clear minority), were made to wait while asian diners which arrived later were seated first. so time passed, we decided to try the cupertino location yesterday. not surprisingly, it was busy, we put our name in and were told it would be a 45 min wait. no problem . . . but . . .we waited, we waited . . . and we observed that groups of asian diners that came in long after us were being seated ahead of us. after two hours passed, i stood in front of the front desk and looked at the waiting list . . .somehow our name (the only name not written in chinese characters), was still five names down the list.....it was clear we would not be seated unless there were no asian diners waiting, we left and enjoyed in & out! do yourself a favor, if you are not asian, skip the hot pot restaurant and spend your money where they want your business.

pretty good hot pot. the "spicy original" isn't very spicy compared to hot pot in china, but still tasty.

overall, though, it was a great experience and i already can’t wait to go back again. even if we don’t end up living in san mateo, i have a feeling we’ll frequently make the trek out there for this amazing hot pot. plus, as an added bonus and even more incentive to re-visit, the restaurant is located right in this cute little downtown area with lots of shops to explore.

after moving here, and always hearing bout xiao fei yang (little sheep) & knowing one opened up in cupertino i have been trying to convince meep to try it but the half hour or so wait always put us off. when he was away on a work trip, v asked if i wanted to eat there - yes!!!! there were about a dozen or so booths that were all comfortable, able to accommodate small & big groups.
