the food was pleasant and some ingredients were good. the oat cake was deliciously baked. however the staff seemed to be tired of the tourists. not friendly at all.

super cute, well designed cafe in st helen's with great food and coffee! the sweet potato fries was absolutely fire🔥 and we had to get extra servings.

also all the staff were super friendly which really added on to the whole experience. a must visit if you're after a chill lunch/breakfast.

just slightly off the main drag, we were drawn by the charming facade, and the stream of people coming and going convinced us to try it out. surrounded by an eclectic range of antique and vintage pieces for sale, we chose the cheesy cauliflower soup, cheese scones and egg and bacon roll. exceptional, delicious and when i say home-made i mean that depth of flavour you can only get from someone who cooks with love, so good we came back for brunch the next day for a devonshire tea, again with homemade jam and scones. worth a very long drive!

my boyfriend and i stumbled upon this cafe and enjoyed a delicious chai latte and cappuccino and decided to return for lunch. my boyfriend had a delicious chicken burger and i had a toasted sandwich. my boyfriend forgot to order gluten free bread for me and even though it was his mistake the staff insisted on making another one !
excellent service, gorgeous cafe and very affordable for 2 students!

quirky place full of antiques and stuff - one of the more interesting places in town.

everyone was super friendly & being a small town, the girls know all of the locals. therefore, anyone who they don't know, they'll start up a conversation!

coffee was pretty good & the waffles were gluten free (which is a positive) but were a bit too thin and crunchy to be proper belgian waffles. they were swimming in a lake of maple syrup and topped with crispy bacon, definitely improving the dish.

fantastic cafe. lovely ladies who look after this cafe and extremely friendly. food is very fresh and they seem to be regularly busy. the hollandaise sauce is a favourite. have had better coffee but this may be me being a melbourne snob.

part antique shop and part cafe, lifebuoy is a vintage wonderland and your grandma's kitchen all-in-one. the beautiful ladies there are more than welcoming, and are very accommodating in variations to the menu. ordered a garlic and chives scones to come with scrambled eggs and was presented with a fluffy cloud of eggs and a buttery crumbly scone. my partner absolutely loved the sinfully rich hollandaise sauce on his dish of green eggs and of course, the bacon. because it was a generous serve and it was bacon. no further explanation needed. same for the moist homemade banana bread which came with a dollop of cream. only minor setback was the skinny latte, a bit too milky but otherwise nothing i can fault.

zomato! how can this cafe have all fives and rate at 2.9???! you need to fix this asap.

anyway, perhaps i'm just a lucky bugger or perhaps it's the fact that we have great food in oz. either way i stumbled across this brilliant cafe this morning. it's like walking into a little antique boating shop with a cafe near the rear. there are small rooms with tables in corners making it a relaxing place to enjoy your top notch coffee and brekky.

the young lady serving was the most pleasant waitress i've met and the food is brilliant. go the vego with eggs, ticks all the boxes and is nutritional plus. only gripe is there are no selection of mueslis or perhaps smoothies on the menu.

but when the service, decor, building and food is this good who cares!

ps. full of chatting locals which is always a good sign. favourite cafe ever... serious 😁

this is the third or fourth time my husband and i have had breakfast at the lifebuoy cafe. we have always found the service friendly and fast, the environment relaxed and the portions tasty and generous. the cafe is always packed which is rare for the small town. do yourself a favour and try the green eggs.

one of the best cafés we encounted on our trip around tassie. the staff were amazing - happy to whip up lunch for us despite their kitchen closing 1/2hr earlier. they even provided us with a plan to help us explore the bay of fires that afternoon. food is super cheap, but of great quality. would certainly recommend and visit if we return to st helens.

andrew / 35 mins ago march 3, 2015 sometimes a solid, well cooked breakfast is all you need on a lazy weekend. if that’s what you’re looking for, and you happen to be in st helens, then lifebuoy cafe is the place for you! life buoy cafe sunny, summer morning no bells or whistles (too tough on the teef), just a great location out back of the quail street emporium, enthusiastic staff, good grub and a decent coffee.
