great for a working lunch. stopped into lennie's for a friday afternoon working lunch and was not disappointed. the place was busy with the iu faculty and staff crowd but, with a party of two, we got seated right away. the atmosphere was exciting as the space invites people to talk but it is not so loud as to obscure conversation at one's own table.

a variety of lunch specials, sandwiches, salads and soups. i hope that you get a chance to check it out!

i felt that everything on the menu was just so complicated. if you want simple food, lennie's is not the place. their food probably isn't bad but it just wasn't for me.

my wife and i started going here just about a month ago. everything we order is good. we have been ordering something different every time and everything tastes great. the clam chowder was awesome. their sandwiches are great, meatball sandwich and the roast beef dip are really good. i suggest anyone that comes to bloomington to try this place.

won't be back again.. had a bad meal, expensive for lunch, vegetables that were supposed to be roasted, tasted boiled or steamed...server did not return to refill drinks.
used to be one of my favorite places but ...
insult to injury... extra charge for a piece of bread!

one of those restaurants in bloomington where i had a meal and i liked it. had the charcuterie platter and it was so good. served with cheese, bread, meat cuts, pickles and brown mustard. it was pretty awesome. had the chocolate mousse for dessert. it was pretty nice as well. recommended to try. i will be coming back here again. happy dining! :)

lennie's dimly lit interiors and decor gives the feeling of a gloomy day. their quesadillas are pretty good, and the staff is friendly too. also tried their waffles, which were decent! overall, doesn't stand out for anything in particular.

why are you the tastiest restaurant around btown? still, after all these years, i still love ya. the turkey tortilla salad, bacon turkey melt, chips & queso, the strombolis...can't beat any of it. add bbc beer and you have a lunch or dinner to remember. don't miss the happy hour pizza flat special, the housemade pepperoni makes my heart sing. cheers!

pine for it!. i am a bloomington native who moved out of town about 6 years ago. i still think about lennie's french onion soup! haven't yet found its equal. i plan a trip back to bloomington and that soup is on my list. i used to go there regularly and loved their chicken salad. i always thought it was a great spot to go work alone or read in the afternoon when there are few customers.

the place is always crowded, but the service is consistent and the beer is always flowing. the beer that still sticks out in my mind to this day is their nitro stout. i ordered it pretty much every time i ever visited the place. if you find yourself in town – perhaps for the little 500 – i highly suggest dropping by to grab a pint or five. original review the restaurant is a bit small and it’s s

good place overall. i'd say lennie's is particularly valuable as a lunch or after-work spot for iu staff and grad students. staff is always quite friendly, and the food and beer are great.

a couple minor notes: the location is a bit odd; if you're just visiting, you're probably better off going downtown where there's other stuff nearby. if you find yourself somewhere on the eastern half of campus along 10th, then stop in.

i also wish that they'd switch up the menu a little bit. it hasn't really changed at all in the several years i've been going there.

extraordinary experience. a friend and i were in town for just a day while visiting the university and found lennie's through urbanspoon. we decided based on it's existing reviews it would be a good idea to give it a shot. we were looking for a nice local restaurant to get a feel of the area. this was a great choice. from the service to the dessert, everything was amazing.

worst stromboli, terrible service. took 30 minutes just to get a drink. barely saw our waitress. had to flag her down whenever we needed something. my husband ordered a water with his beer. he never received it. as for the food, i ordered a stromboli and it was one of the worst things i've ever tasted. i paid $12.50 for something that was worse than a hot pocket. my husband ordered the lennies original. that was very good but $11.50 for a sandwich, thats pretty steep. the prices overall were outrageous for the quality and quantity of what you received. at the end of the meal my bill had a beer i hadn't ordered and a few days later i noticed my credit card was charged twice. overall, one of my worst food experiences in my 4 years i've been at bloomington. very disappointed.

there are ao many great places in bloomington we dont always make it to lennys when in btown, but the food is great. clam chowder is the best ive had and their strom bread is wonderful. love the ruby red, cream ale and java porter beers. forgot my id once so ordered their root beer-yum! sometimes hard to get a table at lunch.

my impression of pennies was mixed at best, despite the overall positive ratings on urban spoon. the good is a nice dining enviroment, first rate service, great french onion soup and their delectable cucumber slaw. the bad? both sandwiches we had for lunch. the fish was served on a crusty roll with cilantro and a mild mexican cheese. the first sandwich came out badly overcooked, so we sent it back. the second was better, but the sandwich as a concept just did not work. the crusty bread squished the soft fish and besides the flavors, which were pretty anemic, did not work with each other. we also tried the meatball sandwich. the homemade bread was soft and bland and the meatballs were uninspired. i hare to admit this, but i vastly preferred the mealball sub at subway.i might go back and try this place again, simply on the strength of the french onion soup. overall though, their food pairings, though unconventional, are not to my taste.
