relaxing, elegant, that pampered feeling. a number of friends we know had recommended latitudes as a "must" in key west. now i can see why.

this restaurant is part of the westin and is not located on key west but on a smaller key just to the west called sunset key. from what we could determine, all of the other structures on sunset key were also owned by the westin and were called the sunset guest cottages. in any case, to get to the restaurant, you have to take a motor lauch from the westin to sunset key and you must be either a guest of the sunset guest cottages or have reservations at latitudes. the do have a list and they do check it twice although i did not see any signs of a sleigh and eight tiny reindeer.

trip to the key (almost made a mistake and called it an island) is about a 15 minute cruise and is very relaxing. the launch during dinning hours leaves every 30 minutes but not sure about the rest of the day.

after you dock, you want through a gazebo and up a walk and informal garden to the entrance. there a host or hostess escorts you to your seat and after a bit of brief introductions, present you with you menu followed by the appearance of your server at about the same time. servers work several tables but if they see someone with an empty coffee cup at another servers table, they jump in to make sure the customer is kept happy. this is not done in a competitive fashion or trying to outpreform another server but rather the goal is to keep the customer satisfied. excellent execution and the sign of good training and good management.

we tried numerous items for dinner starting with the mozzarela fried green tomatoes and seafood cocktail as appetizers and then scallops with mushroom risotto and lobster with polenta and asparagus. everything was perfect and would order again. unique presentation with the green tomatoes but the flavor balance is perfect. the scallops and lobster dishes were great and both are hard to prepare because it's too easy to overcook and end up with something with a texture of rubber and no taste.

atmopshere was excellent and to she why, take a look at some of the pictures posted with this reveiw. large bombay fans over the dining area, open patio leading to the beach, graceful palm trees, white linen and a live orchid on each table. the rest of the atmosphere is the staff and they only add to the experience.

our freinds and neighbors recommended this restaurant and i will not hesitate to recommend it to others. good find and as good as any i've found elsewhere in the country with the only difference, this one is more relaxing and comfortable.

the food, setting, and service are exceptional. first class spot. however, the hostess is absolutely miserable to deal with. unwilling to make accommodation much less crack a smile. she's awful. everything else is fantastic though!

requested outside seating. got sat next to the only other table inside and next to a shitty diapered baby and the other side where wait staff clang dishes and serve from. everyone else got sat outside ( there were plenty of seats). the food my chicken died in vein. it was dryer than sheetrock dust. my boyfriends cesar salad was all anchovies and croutons. his “lobster tail” was nibbles of lobster and processed ham in a burnt nest of weeds set sail on a sea of butter and raspberry goo. the burnt crem brûlée was the icing on the cake. don’t bother. and the woman hostess who also took my reservation (could tell from her thick accent and horrible command of the english language was rude and nasty. 170
bucks on garbage. don’t bother.

we had a delightful lunch here. we had to take a boat from town to get here. we dined outdoors. it was very windy but beautiful. i started with lobster bisque soup which was ver good. i then had a lobster wrap which was good, but not outstanding. overall it was a wonderful lunch.

latitudes restaurant is on the private island of sunset key, about 500 yards from key west. the cuisine is caribbean, which a focus on seafood. it is a fine dining restaurant unlike any other in key west. it has an amazing view, but is more than just a restaurant with a view. it’s a beautiful restaurant serving incredible food with outstanding service.

reservation: prolonged wait for table; said "outside seating as you requested" -sorry no request there; amazingly poor, clumsy service. inattentive and untrained! absurd presentation, taste and quality at these prices. poor value in any department! read my review history and decide. bon appetit!

must try when in the keys, pleasant surprise and worth the price point. located on sunset key and a quick free boat ride from the marina near the westin resort latitudes serves up some of the best food around. everything here is really tasty and enjoyable service that is inline with a casual country club type of location. great views and a perfect place to enjoy a sunset meal. they have both indoor and outdoor seating, a decent wine list and some great cocktails. you will want to make reservations and any concierge can assist if needed. so splurge a bit and do something romantic or out of the usualy key west party scene

really! a westin resort with service was terrible. the whole experience left me with a different opinion of westin. the only thing you have going for you is location.

key west's most exclusive restaurant...located on a private resort island where the cheapest rental unit goes for $1500/week. you need a reservation at latitudes just to board the water taxi to sunset key.
the setting is absolute perfection. the outdoor seating offers a stunning view of the gulf. at sunset, this would be the best view in key west. locals still curse the resott on sunset key because it partially blockd the view of the sunset from mallory square.
service is absolutely perfect.
the food and drinks at lunch are a mixed bag. the cocktails are ovrrpriced. my wife's key lime colada was a perfect drink. the dacquris and mojitos were at best average (the conch republic pours are better mojito at a better price). my wife's fish tacos were "fishy" smelling (like the fish wasn't really fresh) and didn't contain enough fish (the conch republic serves better fish tacos). the tuna tartar was probably the best i've ever tasted. the seared tuna was grainy and needed salt (duvall street's jack flats sports bar serves better seared tuna). the gorgonzola steak salad was perfect.
the setting can't be best. better food and drinks can be found at several places in key west at better prices.

very disappointed! excellent service and a great view along with great starters but the entrees were very disappointing especially for the price...probably the worst lobster and flank steak i've ever had!
