lake view restaurant. lakeview restaurant is on the lake in coventry connecticut. they offer italiano, seafood, steak, pizza, sandwiches & burgers. they have an outdoor deck overlooking the lake. they have a large bar, and big screen tv.
when we first arrived we were happy to be reunited with our favorite waiter, joey from coventry pizza, who we had not seen in 3 years. we sat in a booth overlooking the lake.
i got the rib eye steak sandwich topped with a delicious combination of sauteed onions, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese. the steak fries were the way i like them; hot and crispy golden brown.
liz got the chicken broccoli alfredo served over linguine. i sampled some, both the chicken and white sauce were very tasty. the portion was very generous, we took half of it home.
joey, our server, was very attentive & friendly. leo, the manager, thanked us as we were leaving and was very friendly with us. next time we try one of these appetizers; chicken wings, fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms, sweet potato fries, shrimp, smelts in a basket. then split a large antipasto salad, or the baked lasagna.

lakeview restaurant, review #2 we went back again to dine at the lakeview. they had a "fresh whole belly clams" sign out in front. of course that's what i ordered and i am happy to report that lakeview's clams are among the best i've ever tasted, and i've been eating clams for 50+ years.
leo, the manager, remembered us from the last time we were there. he stopped by my table to chit-chat but it was clear he was very busy with customers. the gigantic bar area was filled with a big private party (30+ people) having lots of fun along with their dinners.

the good:
nice dining room. the wait staff was very pleasant.

the bad:
some meals overpriced.
stuffed mushrooms were very good and plentiful. seafood fra diavlo was skimpy on the seafood, especially the shrimp, which still had it's tail shells on it, scallops an calamari. only about a cup of linguini. certainly not worth $28.99. chicken ala vodka had didn't taste good and the chicken was dry. my wife couldn't eat it.

the good: beautiful setting, outdoor seating was delightful. sangrias are delicious.

the bad: meals came incomplete. sangrias were waaayyyy expensive.

appetizer: wings - decent. ordered garlic/pepper, received lemon/pepper... meh, but still tasted good. meaty and cooked decently. served with tarter sauce??!!! first bite a bit of surprise when expecting ranch! also order of mustard/horseradish. very good, but what is with tarter sauce with this one too?

drinks: 4 different sangrias... all delicious... $12 for maybe 8-10 oz... probably less as glass is mostly ice... little steep.

meals: shrimp parmigiana - very good. ordered rice to go with... never received.

baked stuffed shrimp - very good taste, shrimp a bit small next to the breading but enjoyable.

mediterranean shrimp- menu says served with linguine. arrived with spoon for in dish for twirling pasta, but no linguine. asked server about linguine, said he was new but didn't think it came with it. when meal about 2/3 over waiter came around and asked him about linguine. he didn't think it came with it, but i could order some. day late and dollar short at that point... neither checked the menu to validate. :-( rechecked menu at home... definitely should have been there. the flavor was excellent for the sauce but it was desperately crying for pasta to go with. as a side note: this was a little late for bread check as well. would have helped the sauce at least instead of have to use the spoon to eat like soup. potentially excellent dish, turned disappointing.

overall: could have been great experience but below average service and not getting what we ordered coupled with above average pricing, left us not excited to come back.

overpriced and unimpressive. the deck is the only thing they've got going for them. the service was slow and sloppy and the food was straight off a truck and over-priced. at these prices, there should be a chef in existence. i feel like they rope you in with the deck. i wouldn't order anything but drinks at this place.

??worth the price????. just had chicken parm and eggplant parm dinner--chicken was pounded to less that 1/4" and eggplant was less than 1/4". lots of breading not much else for $19.99 a plate. sauce was mediocre and there was lots of melted cheap cheese. was definitely not worth the price! funny how they use 1-2 cups of spring greens as a garnish under the jalapeno poppers, yet the salad with our dinner was all iceberg lettuce!!!! what is wrong with restaurants these days??? for $100+ dollars for 2 people, the only good thing was the martini before dinner and even that was overpriced and served inside the restaurant in a ??plastic?? martini glass. really!?!?.

awesome wings and agreat happy hour prices. being from buffalo i'm pretty particular about my wings,these are better than the ones you get back home. the grilled swordfish is to die for, this place has a great fun atmosphere and the service was fast and courteous.

great meal. i'm stuffed. great view of the lake and the service was very fast. i plan on visiting again vert soon.

great food, great atmosphere. large portions!! you'll eat for 3 days off a $15 meal. and everything was cooked to perfection. i would recommend this for any & every occasion.
