stepping onto a boat in europe to step off inside this restaurant in asia is definitely the coolest service a restaurant can provide you with pre-food. the setting is beautiful..right under the bridge and directly on the sparkling waters of the bosphorus.
do try: the calamari.
it was fried just right and really delicious
no need for: the butter shrimps
which were too buttery and just tasted like butter. it's a lot of butter to drown the taste of shrimp!
the rest of our food, the rocca salad and another one with very sweet sauce was good but not memorable. for main courses the minekop was bland and the vegetable lasagna tasted like it had been glued together, definitely not the greatest taste or consistency. the duck was also overly greased and lacked seasoning.
the karma white wine was good with honeyed layers of flavour if a bit too sweet for my liking.
the service was below par. we waited for our menus just a touch too long. the waiters also changed halfway through the meal so no one knew where to put the correct plate. people eating fish did not receive a fish knife which would have been appreciated. it was extremely difficult to get anyone s attention and by the end of the meal, we were pouring our own wine and helping ourselves to salt from the service station. worst of all, no one noticed.
in sum, it's a nice view and ambience but i'm not sure it's worth being disappointed by your meal quite so much.
