the food was awesome.  however, the service was not.  the server asked for our drink order literally seconds after we were seated, and he kept rushing us through the appetizer course, until i told him directly that we wanted a leisurely dinner.  after that, we barely saw him.  he also wasn't too clear on some things where i would expect knowledge. examples: they were out of the ipa i wanted, and he started reeling off a list of beers that were also "hoppy," including bud lite! he also asked me if i wanted him to let the wine "air out!" i said yes, so immediately after he uncorked it he wanted to pour and i had to ask him to just put it down.  i don't think it's too much to ask to be able to use a table for two hours if i'm spending $300. the restaurant was busy, but not full.  the table next to us was never used.  this is a great restaurant food wise, but i'd still say barrio cafe was better, because of the service.

here you can order a tasting of guacamole three ways, but i went for the basic version, prepared tableside. quite creamy, wanting some salt to boost the flavor.

could go either way. went here last year and our meals were excellent. went back this year and they were sort of botched with one meal and the other meal same as last year wasn't so great this time. maybe they were just having an off night is all i can say. they do have a great atmosphere and it is worth going for the happy hour and to see the christmas tree and the ice skating.

la hacienda features fine mexican dining with a fresh, contemporary twist. rustic -spanish architecture is dotted with urban furnishings and mexican cuisine takes on a whole new meaning with renowned chef richard sandoval, known as the “father of modern mexican cuisine.” la hacienda reflects sandoval’s signature style of vibrant flavors and ingredients, combining the bold taste of classic mexican food with timeless european cooking techniques in a lighter, healthier way. my favorite offerings? the made-at-your-table menu items, including the guacamole appetizer ($13) and the “flaming coffee” dessert ($10) – both an interactive and delicious way to start and end a meal!

to sum up, the ambiance is great, the food is tasty - just remember to skip appetizers if you're not there with a bunch of people, or you might not be able to get up from the table!

beautiful. came to la hacienda for arizona restaurant week 2010 and loved every part of my experience. from driving up to the friendly complimentary valet, to walking the grounds, being greeted by the friendly hostess, to making friends with one of the waitresses, to the food...everything was nice.

first of all, the princess hotel is gorgeous. what an amazing venue. it's a little private getaway from the hectic city of scottsdale. i would love to spend more time at the hotel trying out all of the restaurants and enjoying a spa day. what a great location this would be for a wedding!

i agree about the tortilla chips and salsa being mediocre. i've had better elsewhere. but the appetizer of ahi tuna tostadas made up for it. it was the perfect size of 3 little tostadas with tons of onions and tempura avocado.

based on the waiters recommendation, i chose the scallops over the vegetarian option and i'm glad i did! the scallops were moist and delicate. just the way scallops are supposed to be. they were cooked to perfection. my friend ordered the quail and couldn't stop raving about how good it was.

for dessert, we shared the churros and chocolate tort. the churros were fantastic! the chocolate tort was good too, but not compared to the churros. o my gosh. they were warm inside and came with 3 dipping sauces...yummy!

i would recommend la hacienda for any special occasion. this would also be a great restaurant to take out-of-towners to. i believe they have happy hour, as well.
