sharing food is an intimate experience. excite your palate by ordering a wide variety of cold and hot small plates and a fine bottle of spanish wine to share. before: dinner, stop at andré’s confiserie suisse at 119th & roe, ac

absolutely the best tapas in the midwest and sangria is a must!! it is a bit pricey but worth it. the paella is superb and hot tapas are usually better than the cold. i recommend the artichoke prosciutto, chorizo/chicken skewers, and papas fritas.

tapas were overcooked and did not taste very good.  and who puts pulled pork on a crusty little piece of bread?  it was disgusting.  i decided to try the sunday brunch today because it's close to my house.  two tiny muffins with cheap thinly sliced ham and two tiny poached eggs with no sides for $11.  i took all the ham off it was so bad.  the manager gave me a card for a free tapa.  big whoop.  the only thing i like about the place is their patio even though it overlooks a parking lot.

i keep coming back for a reason. i really enjoy the "tapas" concept. order a little of what you want, order as much you're interested in, stop when it's too much. explore a little, getting it wrong is cheap, learn what you like and don't like. add some wine or sangria . enjoy an evening with coworkers, friends or loved ones. what could go wrong?

i was not very impressed with this restaurant. the food was at most "ok". the only thing that i enjoyed was the atmosphere and service, both were very nice.

valentine's day flop. i was very disappointed by my first visit to la bodega. we had the valentine's day special 4 course meal with wine pairing which was supposed to be $55 per person. the first course, beef tartare was so so. the next course was a salad which was terrible. the roots and stalk were still on the greens so a lot of the salad was inedible. the dressing had no flavor, just olive oil base. the crab was the best part, but there was only about 1 teaspoonful of it on the salad. the main course of lamb chop with polenta side was actually quite tasty. for dessert, the drink was the spanish coffee. having never been here i asked the waitress if it was sweet, because i don't like black coffee. she told me it wasn't sweet at all so i ordered a different drink to pair with the dessert. my husband stuck with the coffee. when it came out, it was amazing and quite sweet! probably one of the best on the menu so i was very disappointed that the waitress mislead me. when the bill came out, it was over $200! the drinks were not included in the "4 course meal with wine pairing". i totally understand why they wouldn't include them, but the waitress should have informed us up front. i probably wouldn't have ordered a 3rd drink if i would have known and definitely didn't plan on spending $220 after tip for this subpar meal. i will never go to this restaurant again. it is over priced and the food is mediocre at best.

we are new to the area and had some friends recommend la bodega for our date night. we made reservations for 830. we got there a little early and sat at the bar waiting for our table. about 15 min later we were sat in the noisy bar area about 2 inches between me and the other patrons on both sides. not what we were expecting with a reservation. the food was great, but took a really long time to come out each time we ordered a new tapa. maybe because we were in the bar area? the house salad was excellent.

disappointing from start to finish.... i've had a few really great experiences at this location. i've even brought a large work party here for lunch! however, my husband made a 7:30 reservation for our anniversary dinner this past weekend, and it was a very subpar experience. they sat us at a table for two in the back on the bar side, and we were practically sitting on two other couples' laps. our paella was not up to par -- quite bland and a little wet. they forgot to bring out my husband's brotxeta shrimp, but when they did it was awfully tiny. i didn't see my favorite lavender lemon cocktail on the menu, and the service was sure nothing to write home about. what a disappointing way to spend an anniversary!

here are some pictures of our pre-concert tapas at la bodega. the albondigas were much better than the first time i had them . i’m not sure if they just made them better this time, or if it’s because i finally figured out that the flavor is in the sauce. the meatballs are somewhat bland and flavorless by themselves, but the sauce is super delicious. so good that we asked for some bread to sop the rest up. we liked the patatas bravas from when hideki ordered it the last time we were at the restaurant, so we got it this time. we had just enough food to be satisfied and not have to take any home (or back to the hotel). since we just had tapas instead of full entrees, i figured that we could splurge on dessert. we got a slice of la bodega’s chocolate tort (a flour-less cake). it was super yummy. brian had a few bites, but i ate every bit of it. check out the aftermath. la bodega is one of my favorite restaurants in leawood. what i love most about it is that you can get tapas, which is grea

rude manager. love the food, love the sangria, great service. rude, rude, rude manager. we asked to move 2 tables together for our party of 7. he didn't want to "mess up the flow", though we were asked to move to another table a couple nights before, and happily did so. needs to review his customer service skills.
