this place is a gem for doughnut lovers, located in the ground floor of express avenue. munching on some donuts after shopping , sounds perfect.
on a weekday post lunch my friend and i decided to catch up and we zeroed up on this place.
they've got an ac seating area and an open area which is not air conditioned. most people choose the outdoor area because that gives a better view.
they had an offer get a sugar glazeddonutfree if you buy one and a hot chocolate. so we got that and another heart shaped donut. the name of which i don't remember :p

the hot chocolate was good. and since i had cold i found it more soothing for my throat. the sugar glazeddonutwas simple and the best. tasted totally fresh.
i liked the chocolate one but that wasn't as fresh as the other one. it had a filling of chocolate and topped with crushed chocolate again.

total bill was around 400 so. i would want to keep visiting the place and explore the other options they offer.

would also suggest you to visit them!

i have to say - krispy kreme has some of the freshest donuts on this planet. although it is a bit on the pricey side, i will grudgingly admit perhaps you are paying more for the quality. thedonutmachine is just mesmerizing, come for this even if you don't eat donuts.

the plain sugar donuts are heaven - you can never eat too many. the specials like the nutty carameldonutwere also quite delicious, as were the cream-filled ones. the italian sodas were quite nice, but they could go easy on the fizz.

their cinnamon appledonutis to die for!
liked the huge space they've got for themselves inside ea. pocket friendly at that as well. the drinks could be better - my strawberry iced tea was stale.

but the tall cappuccino servings are heaven!

in a characteristic mylapore brahmin accent, one of my school teachers always used to say, 'mathavaal la kashta paduthi than sandosham varum na, andha madhiri sandosham ey namakku vendam tanveer' true that, mam.

extrapolating her philosophy, i'd say 'oru global fast food chain ah review panni than unakku review points varanum na, andha madhiri points ey vendam tanveer'

lol.

hence, it is by principle that i decided not to review ubiquitous global food chains,
'subway nungambakkam is the best' then 2 days later ' subway t nagar is the shizz macha'. etc. also domino's. they're there by the dozens. someone write a review for pizza hut no. paavam, fellows have become invisible.

'periya principle nu sonna? apparam enna **thukku you're writing this' nu you folks can ask. touché.

thing is, the exception to my principle, is, if a food chain is absolutely exceptional(this one) , is getting unreasonable hype(starbucks alwarpet) or a glaring health hazard (thankfully yet to find one such establishment), i'd consider writing a review for it. hence, we are here.

krispy kreme opened up a long time ago. namma than late. no latest coming also. lol. *self facepalm*

i visited the place recently and absolutely loved it. being away from the food court, helps keep the place sane. it isn't buzzing with people, and it works wonders in its favor. it's hard to find such places, especially in a mall as busy as ea. also, the view. it isn't all sea view baywatch types, nor are you blessed with a neon enhanced view of the skyline of our city. all you can see are a bunch of exquisite german beauties, with a few indian go-getters thrown in for good measure. for the automotively challenged, i'm speaking about the view of the car parking. :d also, it's a nice feeling to casually stroll your car, park it on the ground floor without having to go to the depths of dante's inferno to park/retrieve. and the garden and the entrance to the mall. lovely. didn't mind spending extra for mall parking this time!

the place has a very welcoming ambience. huge windows, good natural lighting, the garden and the cars, chairs, of 2 kinds. one section is the laid back cushion sofas which you'd find in most ccds, and another section with a more serious, table and chair set up. they all work well though!

the food, is also exceptional. they're a dessert only place, with a few beverages served. hence you won't find anything savoury on the menu. i guess that's another reason why the place is relatively less crowded, cause there's only so much time you can spend for dessert. i did the same too. there's a mango fest going on and so we had ordered for 6 doughnuts. each one of us, wanted an original glazed doughnut and a doughnut with a filling. the mango cheese cake doughnut was my choice and i liked it. though i don't know if i'd ever eat a cheesecake in adonutform again, it tasted pretty good. another friend had a vanilla mango filled doughnut and she liked it too. the last doughnut was this chocolate filled dish, which was smashing. all 3 doughnuts had copious amounts of filling, especially the chocolate one, which was oozing liquid chocolate and managed to create an enjoyable mess of things. we were all kids again. but i personally preferred the original glazed doughnuts. simple, yet they were better than the more decadent ones imho. could have eaten a box of just those.

the service is also pretty good. 'welcome to krispy kreme sir' exclaims this gentleman from the counter as you enter the place. 'namma la than da koopudran'! all warm and fuzzy you get. don't remember the last time i got a
' welcome to domino's sir'. i guess it's cause i'm only there for the buy one get one offer. and they're like 'oc le ye thinra paaru' lol.

there was a lady who had understood the awesomeness of this place and had sat with a couple of doughnuts, a drink and a book, by the corner. kudos to her. resisted the urge to replicate her behaviour as i had to leave.

the krispy kreme outlet at forum mall, is in the middle of the entire mall, and i really didn't take to it. so i never tried it. but i'm sure they all taste the same. one grain of rice is evidence for the whole pot. does that ring a bell? if it did, then you a true local macha. :d

this place though, just nails it on all frontiers!
definitely coming back here. probably every time i visit the mall. lol. not every time i guess. rapidly outgrowing my clothes already. :p

cheers. : )

this is never my first choice for donuts. i think they're overpriced and do not taste great.. at all. a friend wanted to have their glazed doughnuts, so i went for it. i find them particularly sweet and the texture of the bread always seems stale. the filling in the donuts isn't much either.

staff is kind and courteous.

always adonuthouse fan.

the mere thought of having a soft, fluffy, simple yet tasty, sugar glazeddonutcrumbling in your hand is pure ecstasy.. though donuts come in various shapes and sizes, with different toppings and sauces smeared on them or stuffed with yummy fillings that just ooze out when you take a bite... *bliss*, but nothing matches the joy that the original glazed provides.. before you know it, you just gobble it down your throat and ask yourself the question, "where the hell did it go?", and wish to have one more.. 😅

okay, enough of mydonutramblings.. was craving for sugar glazed donuts, when my friend said, " hey, let's go to express avenue". i didn't have to be told twice and happily accompanied her to satiate my cravings! 😅😆

i always become a small girl when i look up theirdonutplant.. just imagining rows and rows of donuts frying in it... *sigh*.. the ppl in the counter are very courteous and make your day by welcoming you with smiling faces..

i drank an english breakfast tea without milk to sooth my croaky throat.. thedonutwas just pure delight like always!! no disappointments there..

on the whole, a really nice place to have amazing donuts and also feel good about it!! 😆

p.s : they have good deals when it comes to having beverages with sugar glazed donuts! do check them out!!

krispy kreme is located in the ground floor of express avenue mall with the outlet really stretched out with plenty of room to sit in. they have an array ofdonutflavors to choose from and i have tasted kookie krunch, mango and cookie crunch, almond all over, chocolate dream cake. if i were the god of junk food, then donuts would be my sudarshana chakra!
it would be my weapon and id fling it at delinquents for all of their despicable activities. oh how cool would i be, using to teach them a lesson and by being a toughass?
oh wait. maybe if i fling it at them, they'll sniff the donut, get tantalized by its aroma , catch it with their mouths and eat my weapon .
or maybe i'll end up eating it myself as it is that irresistible. maybe i shouldn't be the god of junk food after all, maybe just the god of healthy food so that i punish the delinquents by making them smell radish eh? :p
trust me, my taste in desserts are really sweet, because my grandma who makes the best indian sweets in the world loved sugar and her sweets entailed a generous amount of sugar that after a single bite of her sweet and letting yourself swallow it, the sugar would just rush to the brain and i'd get hyperactive instantly!!! and if my grandma were to ever make donuts, i think she'd make them like krispy kreme's because the donuts here are real sweet. my favorite was chocolate dream cake but i liked the rest as well. if the family is shopping together, the father would keep ordering more as its tasty and sugary enough to make him combat the stresses of the huge bills that his family left him behind after shopping!!! and if it's anybody else shopping around, i suggest you buy clothes a size bigger because you sure as hell won't pass this shop without eating a few and carry a dozen back home to chomp on at home!!!

i had gone to krispy kreme to meet a gang of my girlfriends. well its adonutplace so basically they concentrate on that which i love. krispy kreme has a good variety to choose from. chocolatedonutis obviously nice, but my heart loves and almost everyone feels the same, their originaldonutis the highlight. the simple glazeddonutis my favourite there. it's a must have. as donuts and coffee go hand in hand, they have a variety of coffee and shakes. the cafe mocha i had was yummy. i also tasted my friend's velvety vanilla and it was super yummy too. a must go. ambience can be worked upon. but no others issues with place.

beautiful ambiance with the signature glass walled kitchen withdonutmaking machine.
freshly made original glazed donuts are to die for.
completely worth the absurd amount of calories people say it has (i don't even care how many), if you've got a sweet tooth, i guarantee you this sugary goodness will have you wanting more.

atmosphere/ décor
upon entering, you'll notice that this location has a narrow interior with high top tables all around and a glass window to view thedonutprocess. watch these circular beauties slowly get fried and glazed right before your eyes! a small step exists, too, for dem shorties.

donuts
forget sprinkles, fillings, and all that. it's all about the original glazed, and when it comes hot off the conveyer belt, it's quite melt-in-your-mouth sinful, and it's like fulfilling all your sugar needs for the entire year, ever. i believe a standard, fresh glazed donuts . *heaven*

service
super efficient.

prices
onedonutcost 65₹- 70₹

overall
i would personally return, and their fresh donuts were decent. however, it's not great enough to make krispy kreme a regular stop.

been here countless number of times.... always to eat just 1donutbut end up getting a box of 12 !! thank god atleast krispy kreme is maintaining their international standards.. the donuts are moist, soft and real good (save for a few occasions in mid week or no crowd timing when i found the donuts no better than dunkin).

glazeddonutis my all time favorite. try the donuts when freshly made... they just melt in your mouth.

when krispy kreme first came i was so excited that i drove all the way to the mall on a weekend (consider the parking costs ) just to try some donuts.
i was disappointed.
the ambience is good. the weird machine takes up all the space but i guess they got to do what they got to do.
but the donuts- that's the biggest disappointment of the entire thing. its fasten like mithai. yes indian mithai. so if you don't like extra sweet things then don't try this place.
i can manage to eat an originally glazeddonut(which is really sweet) but can't stand any of the chocolate coated ones.
and i'm not even complaining about the cold donuts, cause truthfully i don't mind cold food :d.
