so last night my colleague and i popped in for drinks. disaster! there were things flying everywhere and kept falling in my drink. to make matters worse the bartender was very rude to us. and kept saying to me "you need to protect your drink better" i wouldn't have to if they could fumigate the place! when i asked him to change my drink he didn't. he just took the bug out and poured the drink into a new glass. i'm very disappointed. the bartender was extremely rude and defensive.

i am at the kitchener right as i post this! the place has an awesome vibe! most patrons here are university students. the kitcheners has a cool decor, arty! i loved the fact that with patrons at their mid 20's, the bar plays jazz and people love it! the prices are average and the staff aren't too bad at all. it is a place with good location and excellent jazzy vibe even at a tender time of 6pm! thumbs up

do people even eat at kitcheners?
one of the best places in town to grab a drink and people watch.
would recommend going on a wednesday to broken beats in braam!
good music, cheap drinks and great people.

this is a club/ bar. it is super nice but it is rather unsafe outside at night, especially if you are alone. great place to get drinks with friends.

guyz, kitcheners comes alive at night. this places does wonders for braams nightlife, definitely one of our stops on a crazy weekend. ive only had the burgers to eat and they were good, not amazing, but good

definitely the most legendary of the legendary outlets. over 100 years old and they still host some of the best parties.

every time i come here i always have a grand time. they book really interesting artists, and they host weekly comedy nights too.

they make interesting burgers full of flavour. the drinks can be a bit pricey, though.

kitcheners is definitely one of my favourite spots in joburg.

kitcheners for me is such an iconic place and it's packed full of character. this is never really the place where we spend our night as it gets so packed but it's great to stop by if you're in the area a little earlier. i love that you can have any of their burgers as a vegetarian option, it definitely satisfies this picky vegetarian's needs.

i've only ever come here for the drinks and vibe but last night was looking to grab dinner in the area and thought to give their food a try. i was blown away by how good their burgers were! the beef patty was delicious and cooked to perfection with the middle being rare and juicy. their selection of burgers is great, i had the greek and the tzatziki sauce was really nice and garlicy. also, i realised i've never actually had olives on a burger before and i don't think there's any going back now.

service is what you'd expect from a pub; friendly and efficient but not readily present. our waitress was caroline and she was great.

decor and vibe is absolutely awesome. i'm excited to go back!

went here for a casual night out during the week with friends. honestly the decor and location are not my most favorite but the vibe inside as well as the ever present and helpful bouncers improved the overall place. good chilled place if one is looking for a chilled place with music and dance floor to go to for a night out in braam.

this place is jam packed on saturday afternoons! barely any place to stand in the courtyard. inside the bar is nice and might have a bit more space to dance.

despite baring the name of a vicious colonizer, kithcheners is really one of the best bars/clubs in town. if those walls could talk they would tell you ancient stories of the gold rush - the building is about 200 years old and i think it's still got its original wallpaper. great djs most of the time set the tone for what feels like a house party - the dance floor is in what was probably once a living room! but, at the same time, there is a real feel of a local dive with lots of regulars. the barmen are really cool, and the burgers are surprisingly good.

old school bar this is! wanna go and experience old vibe jozi..this is the place!! yes..its old and run down but that's what gives this place character!

you want to have pre-drinks! this is a great chose!

good food, but not a lot of choices for vegetarians, one of the waitress was very unprofessional, took forever to take our drink order and even longer to take our meal order.

you find all types at this here establishment, ranging from the trendy hipster, the young professional, the student, the hustler, the drug dealer and the plain ol hobo to be honest. thats why when anyone mentions food when i'm at kitcheners i get a bit queazy and avoid it. but surprisingly the food aint half bad, theres no need to trouble your mind with thoughts on hygiene etc… like that samp and chicken you buy on the side of the road we humans are quite capable of suspending belief and not thinking about such things too much. the same applies to kitcheners. the burger and chips are all i have ever been able to taste and they were okay…borderline good.

in all honesty though i would not advise an avid foodie to come dine out here, rather come for the cheep booze and sometimes good music. the crowd is always friendly and laid back so thats a plus.
