not only was the quality apparent, but each dish was artfully presented. plus, i should mention we had a very attentive server who happily answered my slew of food questions! i was especially impressed when i found out they keep gluten-free soy sauce on stock, just for folks like us! yey! now, you don’t have to feel like a nerd when you pull a bottle of your own soy sauce out of your bag! :) but, be sure to stay away from the tempura, as it does contain some wheat flour. enjoy with some cold sake on a hot day! kiko sushi bar 349b preston street 613-695-3143 map

where should i begin... hmm i guess the fact that i'm rating them a 1 would be good place to start. anyways i don't wanna write a novel so basically went here for appetizers and mains because we were pretty hungry... basic skills needed to run a restaurant seems to be lacking at this place big time!

1. appetizers took a total of an hour an 15mins to come out. oh and btw they weren't given all at the same time; 2 edamames and 1 seaweed salad after 45 mins... then 3 shrimp tempura all 1 at a time 15mins apart 😑

2. after apps no one cleared the table... and it's a pretty small table.

3. mains finally come out ...after asking countless times where is our food !?! responses given: will look into it🤔 i'm not asking for a follow up on an email.... at this point we've had it n are staving n are being given smart ass comments by female staff who would rather be serving her friends at the table next to us.

grade finally: hair found in one of our mains ! 😷 at this point all bets are off lets just get the heck outta here and never come back !!!

manager tries to come over to find out what the issue is... only to not be sincere about it... tried to offer 25% off the bill 😑 by saying .." i can only do 25% off in my system...is that ok" 😂 what do u want me to reply to that... of course it's not ok !!!! but ur telling me that's all they "system" can give !

anyways moving along ....in the end what we managed to eat was free !!! but deff don't recommend !!! poor service ...poor quality of food ...staff incompetent... lists goes on.

some of the best sushi in town. this place is a gem to find. tucked in between heart and crown and starbucks, is one of ottawa's best sushi restaurants. i have been a couple of times and the food has been great. the house kiko roll is a great combo roll to try out, and every time the sushi has been amazing.

the only thing that is holding this place back is the service, while the girls here really try hard i think there is a little bit of a language barrier holding them back. we haven't always gotten everything we ordered, but it doesn't ruin the meal.

if your a sushi lover you need to go try this place out!!

service was very prompt, maybe a little too prompt, but there were very few customers. the food was good and a bit different from the typical sushi offerings you get in ottawa. i would come back.

beautiful ambiance, excellent food and a great selection to choose from. if you're looking for something other than ayce, and want quality sushi and japanese-inspired dishes, this place is great. everything is very flavourful and fresh. really enjoyed the spicy tofu, soft-shell crab rolls and beef tataki. comparable with genji sushi, but with a greater menu selection.

the restaurant has a terrible customer service. i waited for food more than 40 minutes and it didn't make sense because the restaurant was empty! besides, even after they brought my food, the food wasn't the one i ordered...only two groups occupied the seats and one of the servers sat with customers! also, one of my friends i went with me got a crappy spicy tuna. that was so wrong.

kiko sushi bar is a nice little place in the little italy section of ottawa but, as the name may suggest, serves no italian cuisine at all. i was actually thinking of eating at a particular italian spot for lunch one morning but, when i saw this place, i developed a sudden craving for japanese…

so for a surprise my so booked us a dinner at kiko's. it's a bit bougie for my taste personally, as i always get disappointed with upscale-like sushi restaurants because most of the time the ambiance does not match the food. with that said, kiko's food is quite good, albeit pricy.

we had a dinner special which had 5 types of sashimi (hamachi, red tuna, salmon, albacore, escolar/white tuna), 8 nigiris, a mango paradise roll, 2 shucked oysters, salad for two, miso soup for two and a generous portion of ice cream. we were really hungry and the portions were a bit on the small side so in addition we also ordered tempura appetizers, agedashi tofu, and a kiko house roll and the sakura crab roll or something.

our favourite was the oysters and the sakura roll. the sashimi provided was also super fresh. we would not order the tempura and agedashi tofu again, because the quality is on par with cheaper places but it's more expensive here.

we left very full! we'd order less for next time, though.

service was great, waters were being filled constantly. you also get a parking voucher after 5:30 pm for the underground parking garage!

went here on a groupon.

i ordered black dragon rolls, dynamite rolls, and chicken teriyaki rolls. the black dragon rolls & dynamite rolls were very good. the chicken rolls were a little off. the chicken looked like cooked salmon, and didn't taste that great. considering for 6 rolls it was like $8, that is pretty steep. we also tried their beef teriyaki & miso soup. soup was "meh", beef was decent, but i found it way too sweet, i felt like i had a layer of sugar on my teeth when i was done.

oh, and it actually took them an hour and 15 minutes to bring out our food. it wasn't even busy. we asked if it normally takes this long, and they said "yes, the salmon skin on the black dragon rolls takes time to cook." the skin is super thin, so i can't see it taking more than 5 minutes to cook, and even that is more than generous. the server was attentive with refilling our drinks and everything, but the cost plus time it took to get our food, i wouldn't bother going back again.

food is decent but way overpriced. unless you're buying the bento box (eg what you really want is sushi) it's not worth it.

great atmosphere, decent food. i came here for a birthday celebration with my wife and a group of my friends. once we walked in, we were greeted and sat down immediately. the decor and ambiance were both welcoming and complimented the modern vibe of the restaurant. the food was ok.......simply ok. many of my friends that were there would also agree. the biggest issue for me was the service. we waited a long time to get all of our drinks and even longer to get our dinner. our waitress seemed very busy because we barely saw her at all during the night. whether it was the fact that there were 2 other large parties eating dinner at the same time, i am not sure. however, the manager (or the gentleman that seemed to be the manager) was very pleasant and customer friendly. he interacted with our group a number of times to ensure that we had the best experience possible. don't get me wrong, they were very nice and accommodating, however, they were just slow. would i come back.....yes. i think i would have to give it a second try to sample some other items on menu and give them another chance to show what their service is really like.

went for lunch... expecting to make it out of there at a reasonable time. one hour in after having ordered there was still no signs of food. when asked as to when we could expect the food we got the following answer "i don't know". really? perhaps you should go check? let's just say that the service was terrible and the food wasn't that far behind either. there are many other sushi restaurants that deserve your time and money over this one. don't bother with this one.

yummy sushi. best bang for your buck if you're looking for moderately priced yet high quality sushi in the area. they have a nice variety of house rolls (in addition to the standards) that come beautifully presented and the sushi is melt in your mouth delicious.

service debate. i went to kiko sushi bar last night with a friend. before ordering, we asked the server to let the kitchen know that their service is notoriously slow but that we would order if the service improved. the message clearly got through. the service was top-notch last night! maybe a few more patrons should do the same.

good food. i like this place. i went two weeks ago on a saturday night and again this evening. the food is creatively plated and delicious. try the yam rolls for something different. the service was attentive and the music contemporary. i will definitely be back.
