bad management
.
i had finished a meeting in the area and was really hungry and had to work a bit. i really liked kase so i just ran there to have one of their delicious bowls. arrived, sat, opened my laptop, asked for the menu, checked the bowls and was ready to order. which i did obviously. then the waiter finally decided to tell me that they had a problem with their oven so they weren't able to serve half of the menu since they wouldn't be able to cook the proteins of the bowls. ok. i asked if it was possible to have one of the bowls with the combinations i liked and top it with something grilled instead of the meat of that bowl itself. they refused with no explanation. so i asked for a bowl without meat and topped it with grilled meat. ate it, real good. except i was still hungry since their bowls are tiny portions.
anyway it was late so i decided not to have anything extra. i asked for the bill after a while. it comes and to my surprise i see that i have been charged with the price of two bowls! i call the waiter and ask him why and he is like the meat is extra. i tell him he didn't tell me that when i ordered like he hadn't told me their oven was broken, and he says that extra ordered grilled protein prices are written in the menu. which they were. but to be honest the only reason i ordered that was because they wouldn't change the options in the other bowls. so my complaint is:
1. if your oven or whatever is broken, tell people when you give them the menu, not when they are already ready to order
2. if you don't, you sort of have to compensate for that therefore not charging people double would be a good example of good management and customer care
3. honestly i really don't even care how good their bowls are after the way this ended. i just wanted to have a light dinner while i was finishing with some emails and had to pay the price of a night out
4. their bowls are good i have to give them that but the restaurant is definitely already overpriced plus their portions are tiny so you're never really full.
just wanted to drop this note here since i see this type of bad management way too often in turkey. once a restaurant gains popularity in istanbul they lose their customer focus and i honestly cant stand that attitude.
don't think i'll ever go to kase again and will probably tell everyone i know about this experience.
