i'm a fan of the venetian creme. a little sweet and a little creamy, the secret recipe is not listed on the board and comes out of a tap by the espresso machine. they show local art on the walls, which i like. it's a nice neighborhood coffee place where you can meet up with friends or plug in and get some work done.

eclectic cafe close to the university. roasting on site, which is always a huge plus, but no apparent slow bar (failed to ask if they offer pour-overs). worth it for the decor and a simple cup of coffee (which in no way is "simple").

love kaladi brothers. here is an authentic, non-chain coffee roaster (they roast their own) that prides itself in maintaining and supporting small and independent coffee growers all over the globe. owners mark and andy are the real thing and their coffee is superlative. check out their unique "air roaster" which provides a unique flavor that is full bodied and at the same time not bitter!

kaladi is not starbucks and is not trying to be (!) and if you like "the buckster" then by all means, go across the street.

however if you prefer quality, class and local....

double espresso con panna in a medium sized mug.......heaven....

kaladi brothers snobby employees. the staff was very snobby and unfriendly. did not feel welcomed at all. bathroom out of order and coffee was okay but not great. starbucks just down the street is much better. at least starbucks makes you feel welcomed. java joe
