fantastic food! an absolute must!. i discovered this place by complete accident while on my lunch break. i wandered in a little after two, and, i discovered that they were closed. i popped in and asked to see a lunch menu, and, to my surprise, they were gracious enough not only to show me the menu, talk with me about all the different options, but they actually fed me as well.
it wasn't even during posted hours. the owner, the server, and the kitchen staff just up and cooked me some lunch. it was the damndest service i've ever received in this town. scratch that, it's the damndest service i've ever received, period. i was incredibly impressed.
i had a gorgeous curry, on the owner's suggestion. bean sprouts, green beans, bell pepper, carrot, with chicken and beef and shrimp. the whole experience is finished with a big lovely sprig of basil. it's sexy. the bowl of food is sexy.
if you smash the basil down the to the bottom of the bowl, its flavor will escape into the curry slowly, subtly, and the curry itself is creamy and smooth and hot and sweet and everything good that the universe has to offer.
secondarily, i left my cell phone there after my first visit, and the girl working the cash registered tracked me down and returned it.

i was so impressed, i came back with my fiance the second day after having eaten lunch. we had dinner - four courses - and everything, again, was wonderful. gracious servers, delicious food, and a quick visit from the owner before our fried ice cream, made it just perfect.
it's so nice to have real, delicious, thoughtfully prepared, thai food. hattiesburg's offerings are really limited, it seems - super buffets, americanized chinese, but nothing with real soul, or fun.
this place has soul. this place is fun. i'm so excited to have stumbled into such a jewel of a restaurant.
