authentic, fresh and flavorful. my husband and i stumbled upon this place, and based on the excellent reviews, couldn't pass it up. i will say, the food does not disappoint. it was delicious and full of bold, but not overwhelming flavor. the atmosphere is classy and relaxing. i felt like the prices were a bit high, but i also feel like you get what you pay for. i would rather pay a few extra dollars and get quality ingredients.

good food, but..... this restaurant is clean. the food is good. however, there are a few issues.
first of all the portions are small with some meals and standard size with others. the phad thai had a good flavor, but it was very saucy. maybe that's just the way they make it, but anytime i've had this dish at various thai restaurants it doesn't look as if someone poured a gravy over it and tossed it up. the portion of phad thai compared to other dishes was small. also, someone in our party got combination thai fried rice. it had a great flavor and the portion was large, but there were only 2 shrimp. that was disappointing. another dish was a salad with steak. the steak was cooked very rare, almost completely raw, which is not a bad thing unless not asked how you want your steak cooked. half the salad was sliced red onions. my main complaint is that i was charged $1 extra on four of my meals, three that were chicken based and the salad, all of which were supposed to be 9.95.
in summary... the food is tasty and the service is so-so. don't expect the server to bring your check or you'll wait forever. go to the register at the bar to pay when you're ready to go.

the only place i will eat in hattiesburg. if i could give this place 100 stars, i would. excellent service, unbeatable food and the atmosphere is out of this world. the staff always remembers us (when my boyfriend is in town we frequent here often) and they are fantastic!

not sure what i'm missing. tried this quaint little restaurant last friday night. have been wanting thai food for a while now. ordered the coconut soup which i really liked--loved all the cilantro in it! also loved the beautifully decorated plates but that's where the love ended. the fish which was covered in a chunky red pepper sauce was void of taste. i was surprised but the sauce and the fish were so washed out. the volcano shrimp were huge but had a taste similar to sam's frozen popcorn shrimp and fried very hard, appeared to be the same sauce, again no flavor. would have liked some dipping sauce because it was dry but no one came over to check on us after the meal arrived, so i did without. saw the reviews about the ball shaped egg rolls and tried them--but not special. waitstaff were pleasant but did not communicate the specials, it was awkward to get up and read the board. i went with 4 teenagers and noticed the waitress smirking in displeasure when they did not know what to order and she hardly uttered a word. i had to tell them the specials. it was obvious the regulars love this place and know everyone by name but will be hard to become a regular with this experience.

fantastic food! an absolute must!. i discovered this place by complete accident while on my lunch break. i wandered in a little after two, and, i discovered that they were closed. i popped in and asked to see a lunch menu, and, to my surprise, they were gracious enough not only to show me the menu, talk with me about all the different options, but they actually fed me as well.

it wasn't even during posted hours. the owner, the server, and the kitchen staff just up and cooked me some lunch. it was the damndest service i've ever received in this town. scratch that, it's the damndest service i've ever received, period. i was incredibly impressed.

i had a gorgeous curry, on the owner's suggestion. bean sprouts, green beans, bell pepper, carrot, with chicken and beef and shrimp. the whole experience is finished with a big lovely sprig of basil. it's sexy. the bowl of food is sexy.

if you smash the basil down the to the bottom of the bowl, its flavor will escape into the curry slowly, subtly, and the curry itself is creamy and smooth and hot and sweet and everything good that the universe has to offer.

secondarily, i left my cell phone there after my first visit, and the girl working the cash registered tracked me down and returned it.

i was so impressed, i came back with my fiance the second day after having eaten lunch. we had dinner - four courses - and everything, again, was wonderful. gracious servers, delicious food, and a quick visit from the owner before our fried ice cream, made it just perfect.

it's so nice to have real, delicious, thoughtfully prepared, thai food. hattiesburg's offerings are really limited, it seems - super buffets, americanized chinese, but nothing with real soul, or fun.

this place has soul. this place is fun. i'm so excited to have stumbled into such a jewel of a restaurant.

my family and i eat here today. i had curry pot, which was excellent. my wife and daughters all ordered different dinners and were pleased. for dessert we got the mango sticky rice. it was incredible. each dish was delivered with beautiful presentation. service was very prompt and our drinking glasses were filled every time they got low.
we would definitely eat here again.

pumpkin red curry. since discovering jutamas on thursday, i made three trips over a four-day period. the pumpkin red curry was so good that i got it all three times (with tofu instead of meat). the first time my spice level was 8 stars (although they told me it would be 10 stars, but they weren't sure i could handle it), and it was wonderful. the second time it was 10 stars and still wonderful, although that time it bordered on being too hot for me. the third time i backed down to 4 stars and again it was wonderful. i highly recommend this special item that isn't on the menu but is on their special board.

amazing food and service. i live in texas but was in the hattiesburg area for about 10 days recently. near the end of my time in the area someone told me about jutamas and suggested we try it. i really enjoy thai food and thought i'd give it a try. (i must admit that after looking at their menu on urbanspoon i was very turned off by their lack of vegetarian items, but i decided to try it anyway.) several months back i'd posted on facebook that i had come to the conclusion that the idea of thai food being hot was just an urban legend because i'd never had any thai food that i thought was hot before. i went into jutamas boasting that i thought that thai food wasn't hot and that 5 stars wasn't enough for me. i ordered the pumpkin red curry with tofu, and the cook offered to make mine 10 stars. i jumped at the offer. that food was the best thai food i'd ever eaten (and we have some wonderful thai places in the dallas-fort worth area where i live), and it was so hot that i had to order 3 servings of rice! i went back to where i was staying and told my friends about it, and 2 of them decided to come back with me the next day. one of my friends and i requested the same thing i'd had the day before--pumpkin red curry with tofu and 10 star spice level. when it arrived, i soon discovered that what they'd given me the day before was really only 8 stars. this time it was a true 10 star dish, and it was hot!!!!!! i was still able to eat most of it, but i took a little back to give to a friend who can eat much hotter than i can. he said it was hot, but not too hot. when it was time for me to return home to texas, a third trip to jutamas was my final stop in hattiesburg before leaving. i had the same pumpkin red curry with tofu yet again, but this time wanted to go down to 4 stars just to see what it tasted like when it wasn't hot, and it was still amazing! you folks in hattiesburg are so lucky to have such a great thai restaurant in your town.

long time patron(both locations). i went to dinner on thursday. struggled whether to write this or not. first time i’ve not seen the owner at least walk through. i had been looking forward to dinner for two days(due to illness i don’t eat much).first-no sapporo-again. then,no snapper! this is a regular menu item, not a special. ordered salmon it tasted very fishy-not like normal. the teriyaki sauce was more like gravy. i don’t understand it. this i a menu favorite as well. but the absolute worst part was the flies—everywhere!! there were at least five at our table making my rice inedible. finally killed one in the middle of my dinner plate. i just can’t believe that this happened. i have a very short list of restaurants that i will even consider going to eat. please don’t think i am just crazy or being mean-i’m still mortified!! please fix this-still think it’s one of the best places in town. thanks.

nice outdoor dining for 2 small groups but the weather was optimum and wait staff very nice. this was at the hwy 98 location. excellent house cabernet and calamari & sauce was delicious. the shrimp & scallops with rice was very tasty but only 2 shrimp and 2 scallops. i hoped for a little more for the price but overall a very nice experience.
