had the lunch special, which included an "entrée" empanada, dessert empanada, and drink for around $7. staff was quick and helpful, and lunch was very good (i ordered the jamaican).

we went to get some empanadas and were pretty impressed with how flavorful the savory ones were. my friend got the beef and i got the spinach. my spinach one was mixed with ricotta cheese, making it very creamy and moist. they were quite expensive by themselves, so we got a combo including a sweet empanada. we split a strawberry and cream cheese one, which was disappointing. it was filled with jam with hardened cream cheese at the end. it was cooked for too long and not mixed well. i'm sure one of the other ones would've been better.

i know it's popular but it is the mcdonalds of empanadas. not bad if you are drunk or need fast food now, but not great food. good variety of fillings. i would choose julia's over jumbo slice if that helps. :)

each one made with love!. you can tell just by looking at how each variety is made in a different way, that they were made with love. these empanadas are baked with all the potential to be horrible because the outside is somewhat bland. however, their fillings are so flavorful, it saves the day! i also got the almond pear empanada for dessert and that was just fantastic! the pear is so juicy and the almond cream is delicious! be sure to pick one up!

i love this place. i usually never return to a restaurant once i eat there, unless if it is local to work. but julia's is a common scene for me and my friends. it's cheap and everything on the menu is great. i haven't come across anything that doesn't satisfy yet.

i was an intern in d.c. in 2009.  old beltway veterans could “just tell” that i was from california. i lived in the heart of dupont circle where nobody actually lived except for gw students and some of the more affluent members of the gay community.

i have lived in adams morgan all my life and my favorite place to get an empanada is at julia's. my favorite is the jamaican beef patty. this is great for people who like spicy but flavorful food.
