johnny rad's serves absolutely excellent food. the risotto balls and shred stix appetizers are addicting, the pizza is incredible, and they have a respectable beer selection. service was excellent, too. this is not your avg pizza joint...they have so much more, including a creative brunch on sunday. eat here w/o hesitation.

it's mostly a bar, with some tables and a dining room in back, and a few tables out on the sidewalk. there are lots of beers to choose from. we tried the fried risotto balls for an appetizer. these are risotto wrapped around a chunk of mozzarella cheese, rolled into a ball, breaded, and fried. they are served with marinara sauce on the side. these were really good. not greasy, and the cheese added a nice flavor to the risotto. johnny's has many different pizzas (or build your own) in two sizes.

not a latte.... hey j rads, i brag about and always go on about your templeton pizza, but recently you’ve taken to dousing it with way too much olive oil by putting a twirly design on the pie with the oil... very unnecessary and it detracts from the taste. otherwise you remain the best pie in town

pizza that i turn to. everyone has their own version of pizza perfection...j rads is mine. from the airy, yet chewy crust that's neither too thick nor too thin, to the sauce, which is slightly peppery, and not sweetened heavy-handedly with oregano and stands well on it's own. i am partial to the templton which is cheeseless...don't judge me until you've tried it (i typically covet cheese on my pie)...the templeton has whole basil leaves baked on top of the tomato sauce, with olive oil drizzled lightly over top. it is understated loveliness. after a crappy day, i don't hit the bottle- i hit johnny rads...nice beer and wine selections administered by friendly staff.

in april, the city paper put together a ‘ pizza bracket ‘ to rank the city’s best pizza joints. there were a lot of places in the bracket that i’ve been/want to try, but from the comments i noticed johnny rad’s wasn’t on the list and a lot of people seemed upset by that so i made a note to try it in the near future. the other night my roommate and i were craving  pizza  and not in the mood for any of our usual suspects. we already needed to head to canton  to visit target, so we decided to finally try  johnny rad’s . upon approaching the building, i noticed a mural by one of my favorite street artists, michael owen (the artist behind the  baltimore love project .) johnny rad’s as we entered  johnny rad’s , we were met with tons of skateboarding decor and some skeeball machines along the back. my roommate and i decided we wanted to share a pie so we decided to order two appetizers. the first thing we ordered was the shred stix. they were garlic-ranch cheesy bread sticks with a side of p

great food and service, but my only gripe is 50 cents for skeeball and pacman. shouldn't be that high.

great neighborhood spot with a good mix of people and friendly, relaxed service. pizza was great with a great sauce and crust- with good options for non- pizza eaters. would definitely go back

always awesome.. i have been here loads of times. by far my favorite pizza in baltimore. i've had a good handful of the pizzas on the menu, and i've loved all of them. they are always consistently good. the fries with chipotle mayo rock too. i need to try some of the other menu items, but i can't get past the pizza. service is great. good beer selection. my only gripe would be that i can't have a pizza delivered to hamilton ;)

would go again. the pizza was good but the beer options were better. ordered a salad that never arrived but it also didn't show up like magic on the bill either. it was crazy packed but it was also a friday night and we were able to get a table for five without too much of a wait. wish we'd ordered the hushpuppies after reading these reviews!! and once again, they have an exceptional beer selection!!

too expensive. if hipsters are comfortable paying about 3x too much for so-so pizza, this place will thrive. definite sticker shock. i think next time i'll order a better pizza- italian grafiti, buy a six pack, and sit outside of a tattoo parlor to recreate the 'atmosphere'.

having a punk rock pizza place is awesome- having the pizza actually rule is a dream! good pizza is hard to find in baltimore, but this place rules. i'm from ct and since i moved here i've been searching for sweet pizza- this place fits the bill. their dough and sauce are really tasty. and they serve fried edamame that are totally rad. and having the descendents and the cure playing overhead instead of some crappy bar music is totally awesome- a safe haven from douchebaggery.

johnny rad's is rad, but why no ravens specials?. johnny rad's lives up to its name and than some…this place is freakin rad. baltimore needed a joint like this and now that its here i plan on stopping in and often. i don't even need to go into what kind of place it is…if you know who johnny rad is (and he's not the owner) you know what kind of place it is. the food is great, the hush puppies are prepared in a way that i've never had before and are absolutely tantalizing when dipped in there zesty chipotle mayonnaise. the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. my only issue with johnny rads came the day after my visit. (and no, it had nothing to do with my gastrointestinal system) i went to rad's on saturday night and the next day the ravens were playing the bills. i needed a place to watch the game and since i had such a kick ass time the night before i made plans with friends to meet up at rad's. when i got there however there were absolutely no ravens sunday football specials….at least there was nothing special about them. $3 drafts, that's it. no food specials, no nothing. yes their food and drinks are reasonably priced as is, but when i go to a bar for football i want specials. get on it johnny rad's, i want to watch the ravens at your place!
