good!!!!!!. going down hwy. 1187 toward mansfield when i noticed the bbq flags along the right of way and lots of cars in the parking lot. is this the only bbq joint in rendon or is the bbq really good here. had never noticed this little place before so i turned around and decided to check it out....love the small joints. ordered the chopped beef sandwich for lunch for $5.75 and was really pleased. the beef had a really good flavor, although it lacked the "smokiness" i prefer. sauce was really good and the buttered buns were great. will definitely go back next time i'm out that way!

i hate to give it two stars because i have been before and it wasn't this way, but today, the brisket was not cooked well. it was dry and not up to the reputation of jambo's. i will, however, say that the poppers and fries were good. the sausage was above average as well.

this is the epitome of down home, hole in the wall, texas barbecue. the staff is friendly, the food is fantastic, and i'm mad at myself for not having found this place years ago. their pride and joy is their ribs, and it shows, as they're some of the best i've tasted. their sausage is home made, and you can tell. it would be cool to have a spicier variety of their home made sausage, but it still tastes very good as it is. fresh cut french fries and some of the best peach cobbler i've ever tasted rounded out the meal.

i can tell they do carry out, as they had a few folks come in to pick up, so if you're short on time, it's a worthwhile option to get ahold of some great barbecue.

great chopped brisket sandwich, awesome fries! hubby had the bolo sandwich said it was "ok" so i would just stick to ribs or brisket. on a side note someone slammed into my car in the small parking lot while i was there having lunch and i didn't find out till i was leaving, you would think out in the country people would be a little more curtious... guess there are aholes no matter where you go :( but the food was good just park somewhere else

ummm. my wife and i went for the first time today (friday 8-22-14) for lunch. it's a small place with 10-12 tables (i didnt count) but we got there around 1pm so there wasnt a lunch crowd but there was a steady stream of people coming in for to go orders.
we ordered the jambo, which is basically a sampler plate, and it was huge. we took part of it home it was that big. the ribs are pink and tender, the beef and pork was really good and they even have bologna which is kinda hard to find. it was all good but i'll agree with some other posters, i could use a bit more smoke flavor in my bbq.
we also had fried okra and french fries. the fries were just awesome. the seasoning on them goes perfect with bbq. they are worth stopping for alone.
cant complain about the staff or service either. within 3-4 minutes of placing our order we had our food and the staff was more than friendly.
jambos is about 5 minutes or so east of 35 on 1187, so it's kinda outta the way for a lot of folks but i'm sure we'll be going back again on a friday to try their 2" thick pork chops (friday only). try it. order the fries.

first visit. stopped by today and got a to go order. i got the jambo texan that way i could sample all of the meat. very disappointing. all off it was dry, even the sauce didn't help the dryness. based on my experience today, i don't think i'll be going back there. there are better places to eat bbq at.

great sausage that i have been missing.... i grew up around german & czech family "smokehouses" or small sheds filled with wonderful smoked meats. jambo's nails the flavor and texture with their own homemade sausage that took me "right back home". i'm now hooked as a regular. bbq fanatic or just on a road trip, jambo's is well worth your time the next chance you get for the sausage but i also saw many happy people enjoying the brisket, special sandwiches, & stuffed potatoes!

killer ribs. i was very satisfied with jambo's bbq shack. this place is small in size but large in quality. the ribs were tender and not fatty. i sampled with and without bbq sauce, and i must say that these ribs had better flavor without the sauce. tater salad had just the right amount of mustard and the beans were tender. the rib plate with 2 sides and a coke was just under $10. be sure and check the hours before you go. the sign on the door displayed the hours "or until we run out".
