pleasant dining. j. alexanders consistently offers a very pleasant dining experience, thanks primarily to its softly lighted dark-wood ambiance, its friendly, professional servers and its comfortable seating and tables that are large enough to relax and “spread out.” the menu promises nothing original or unique, but its american fare is predictable and generally well-executed. presentation is a plus — even though its web site chooses not to reveal its actual menu, it flashes a sequence of photos of a few lovely food presentations. as for what's on the real menu, just think meat and potatoes, salads and the ubiquitous “soup d’jour,” and full service bar.
overall, j. alexanders offers excellent value.
