india restaurant

nice spacious decor, flavorful buffet and more. indian food and buffets are places that i have savored all over the us. cooking indian recipes myself is a also part of my repetoire. returning to providence again from kansas, this restaurant is a place that i've seen many times back and forth on hope street. but why choose this indian restaurant? trying new restaurants is a how hobby of mine. this time the restaurant and buffet was my target. finding the right time to come in made it difficult. a gastronomic urge was needed so it was time to take the plunge. why? possibly to compare with other asian restaurants tried in providence and elsewhere. more importantly to taste the food and entrees for future reference, looking for culinary satori (aha) foods and recipes. comparing and contrasting same dishes is fun and a challenge. hitting the sunday brunch /buffet this endeavor was met. really nice ambience - certainly better than most indian restaurants.
courteous and helpful service staff.
mango lassi was decent - not too bad.
chicken kebab was hard and stringy - really bad :-(
lamb biryani was greasy and the lamb was tough.
naan didn’t feel fresh - perhaps they just heated and served us some pre-made naan - pretty bad.
chicken tikka masala was kind of ok.
overall really poor experience - not happening again for sure.

love the food get a mango lassi they do buffet for lunch 11$ a person can't beat it parking kinda sucks chicken korma mmm love the lamb vindaloo

beautiful place......thanks ajay..aka aj for all the hard work put into making this place alive.....from belly dance to heena artist. nice food...always packed. very friendly staff and very very nice ambience. you will fall in love with this place the moment you step inn. had beautiful memories from here....thanks aj.....worth going, bet you go here once and will definitely go here twice.

this was my first indian restaurant and i absolutely fell in love😍 with it the atmosphere is so cozy when you step in you feel like you're in india. i came back and brought my friends came back again with my husband. the lamb was out of this world when you smell the food you start to salivating immediately 😋. and the best part is that its clean the bathroom is clean. the music is good.

love this restaurant!!!. great ambiance, great food, great service. can you ask for more? i came here for dinner a couple of weeks ago, their naan bread is remarkable - it has that fresh baked from the oven warmth and taste. all of their entrees sound enticing but i settled with the grilled lamb chops kabobs. i could not have been happier with my choice...so yummy...it's come with kale salad and i chose with baked seasoned sweet potato (the option is basmati rice, brown rice or baked seasoned sweet potato)

dessert was the dark chocolate cake with molten warm chocolate center and top with pistachio ice cream, and it was a great ending to a great meal. i can't wait to come back to india restaurant and try more of their dishes - but it might be hard to pass up the grilled lamb chops kebab!

best indian restaurant in town!!. outstanding!!! everything we ordered was amazing, waitstaff was awesome and i had the best drink i have ever had in my life. it was nirvana (fresh ginger infused vodka)...so good. can't wait to go back. we had a spicy steamed mussels and garlic naan bread to start with. had the chef's special curries peppered duck in tamarind curry as our main... omg really really good! would highly recommend everything!

something different. this is an indian restaurant with a twist! food is not boring. it is not the usual indian food which is fatty for the most part (because most indian restaurants make it too fatty). their menu items are diverse and creative. belly dancers are awesome and free henna tattoos are available every friday and saturday night!

five stars. had a great time at india - had a great time at india - my first visit. the food was superb (naan basket and paneer masala), and our waiter hasan was attentive. i will return! we ate early - 5:45pm on a saturday - and it got quite busy as we were leaving, so reservations are recommended!

the best !!!. i have been to many indian restaurants in my life on this planet, so when i judge i am very critical. coming from me this place deserves a 5 star, for food, decor, service and entertainment. the bathrooms were the cleanest that i have ever seen for any restaurant in ri. the food was fresh and flavorful without too much oil or butter, the salad was crisp and the lighting was perfect. i think that this will be my new hang-out...

unauthentic. disappointing indian fare...the food has been watered down...it's the white bread of indian cuisine in ri

i went to my girlfriend's birthday party and fell in love. their specialty mango drink ( i substituted rum for vodka) is a new favorite and i would go there for this drink alone! the naan is excellent as well. i had the lamb biryani which was good but a friend of mine had the chicken masala which i really loved and that's what i'll get on my next visit. i love the decor. it is exotic and romantic. they had a belly dancer and henna tatoos the night i went (saturday) which was fun and entertaining. the service was excellent and they were so accomodating to our large party. awesome foid, service, drinks, and ambience with nothing to be desired. i'll definitely be back!

very glad i went....... i really like the brunch that they serve; i had no clue what anything was but i really liked it! everything was very flavorful and colorful. there were many things that i was leery to try because i could not tell what was in anything, but i tried everything and left a satisfied customer. i would recommend this place for an adventurous eater or someone who likes to try new things. if you are one of those people who likes to have the same thing every time you go to a restaurant and are mildly up set when they change the menu then this is not the place for you.
