about to be back in philly and i'm going to be making a trip to the imperial inn for sure. great dim sum, actually the best that i have had. this is not american chinese this is the real thing! try the different assortments that they roll by but if you are hungry order the peking duck, its crispy and occupied with sweet lychees. so if you are in philly hit up chinatown and give yourself some real chinese food.

my family have been eating at imperial inn since the 80s. my mother held her wedding reception here back in the day. so we have a very long relationship with this establishment. for a while my family had stopped coming because it had become a little westernized. however, with other business changing around chinatown, imperial inn remains. i revisited with my mom recently and memories flood back. the faces have changed and aged, but the food and service is still impeccable.

one of the oldest places for dim sum . they have lots of variety and service is always friendly so we always go there for dim sum, for lunch & dinner they are ok since there are many other options around.

this is your go to for dim sum!. i've tried almost all of them....china town, philly....imperial is where you want to go. the dim sum is unbelievable with the best selection in town. truly. i've tried others and i won't name other names but the quality of food is delicious and you certainly get plenty. the carts keep arriving with rice noodles, pork buns, must try the pineapple bun, dumplings of all kinds, 2 soups, spare ribs, a really cool thing that i named myself "stuffing bun" because it tastes like stove top stuffing in a yummy bread bun but i think they call it fried bun or something. please try. the owners are very friendly and even if there's a wait, its not for long.

sad. at one time this was the best dim sum in philly...sadly, it's time has come. the food no longer has the taste that it once had and is almost never hot. what a sad end to a once proud restaurant!

terrible. the waitress was unpleasant and the overall service wasnt enjoyable. i ordered the vegetarian spring rolls found on the appetizer section and what i received was a greasy spring roll with undercooked chicken. it was an incredibly off putting meal.

imperial i don't think so. 142 n 10th st, philadelphia 19147
(at race st)
as we enter the restaurant, i am startled by the sound of a security system (chirp chirp..... chirp chirp)
every 2 mins while i stand then sit in the lobby.
then we hear loud talking in a foreign language through a door.
we walked through the double doors. i heard a pleasant "hello" and " table for two"
the carpet was dusty looking. i heard the loud sound of water coming from the restaurant in an echo as it was nearly empty.
i order the lychee duck. with gravy on the side for the white rice.
a wonderful hot tea is placed on the table, some chips and two sauces.
i crab a chip dip it in to this mustard sauce only to find my eyes watering and my tongue burning.
uh ok i assume this is hot mustard and this other must be duck
sauce.
i opted out of trying the next sauces. 2 minutes later,
our drinks arrive and 5 minutes after that her comes my duck.
ah yes, i look at the plate and its a half duck fried with old flour
and a heaping serving spoon of this extra sweet sauce covering the duck
and three cubed pineapples.
as i cute into the duck it is tough i take a bite and the sweet sauce
over powers the duck.
entirely to sweet. what happened to the duck??? i was devastated.
i went on to the rice and gravy. you cant mess up a pot of rice.
the gravy was better than my entree. though everyone was so pleasant.
the food and the rrestaurant sucked.
i am starting this blog and ones to follow, because i am simply tired
of business in our urban communities taking us for granted and serving up anything they slob together .
with unknowing members of the community who are comfortable with accepting poor service.
we spend good money on clothing entertainment and food just like anyone in any other part of the city.
i am coming to diners, chinese restaurants, bar and grills, lounges, street carts and all.
" and i will be at your restaurant too"
