really tasty seafood. while dining at scoma's in sausalito, i asked our waiter to provide me with the name of a good restaurant in san rafael. he stated he also worked at il davide, and that we should eat there.
we showed up the next night at il davide, were personally greeted by the owner by name, and shown to our seats. our waiter, peter (ask for him), made some recommendations, and left to allow us to make our selections. the service by peter and others was on par with the best service i've had.
my spouse had a veal dish that she said was delicious. i had a sample of the wine sauce, and can say it was very tasty.
i'm more into fresh seafood, and can only say that i was not disappointed. i selected a fettucini & seafood with a pescatore sauce. there was a good amount of fettucini, but just enough so that it did not get in the way of the sauce and seafood. this dish was loaded with various types of mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, and fish. absolutely devine. i'm very picky about fresh seafood, and this dish did not disappoint. it was fabulous.
we finished with coffee and a chocolate dessert that was infused with olive oil and some other tasty accoutrements. sounds quirky, but it was exquisite.
if you are staying in san rafael, try this restaurant and ask for peter. you won't be disappointed.
