if you are someone who does not particularly enjoy spending good part of a day looking at different furniture but have to do it anyway due to spousal responsibilities then this is the only thing you can look forward to.
the swedish restaurant at ikea, renton is unique and quite good. you queue up in a line with a tray and pick up items you like and finally bill it at the counter. coffee and tea is free for ikea family members.
few items that i liked were the meatballs, the chocolate cake and the cheesecake.
the only complain i have is the fact that they were running out of cutlery and coffee mugs. probably a very busy day.

no ikea in spokane !! then how do we eat their food :p ?? well, simple go to the nearest ikea which is 300 miles :d just to find the restaurant so very crowded that it would take you forever to reach the counter .. so you decide to go and have their ice cream and pizza .. because you gotta do what you gotta do .. i.e eat their food.

and i don't know .. we took 2 slices of pizza and 2 ice creams for $5.50 .. well, how do you even compare that!! .. food vs money.

so, let me try this way .. when we were kids .. back in india .. the best ice candy was the one with the lowest of the prices .. (an orange ice candy costing inr 1 (1 usd = 65 inr)) and it was not because of the money .. the ice candy really tasted good .. i wouldn't say the same thing about ikea's ice cream or the pizza :) .. and it is not just because of the taste .. they tasted alright .. it might be because we have grown old and have stopped being rather care-free, have grown paranoid of ingredients and this'n'that which inhibits us to enjoy and savour things like we used to in those golden days of our childhood.

but yeah the food was pretty neat and alright and i can have it if the need be.

cafeteria style dining. have to eat the meatballs, extra gravy, mashed potatoes, and lingonberries! delicious! the fries are good as well. the salmon is good and so is the chocolate mousse. we paid for 6 adults, stuffed ourselves, for approx $40.00. good deal for us. we will definitely come back.

it's a cafeteria, stupid!. i am not a restaurant! i am a cafeteria!!!!
that being said, it is a good place to eat. take your tray and get in line!
(onward retail sooollldier, marching off to shop!)
nummy swedish meatballs. extra gravy please. (specify 5,10 or 15 meatballs you meathead! it ain't rocket science, mister! you hear me??) and gravy with, lingonberries, potatoes and a salad. the poached salmon is quite good. they have a decent selection of veggie options for your side items and nice desserts you can try before you buy in the swedish foods store next to the cafeteria. (ikea has breakfast, but i have never tried it.)
they also have pasta dishes if you like that and your drink is included with the meal. (say:unlimited refills!) but no to go cups.
you see, they have you trapped. the food is near the beginning. if you cut through the store by the kinderzone, or nearer the middle if you walk through the first half of ikea. all that looking at all the options of stuff to buy is designed to make you hungry.
(you cannot resist, resistence is futile! your blood sugar is low! quote from: bjorn borg.)
next to the cafeteria is the food section where you can buy some of the foods you have sampled and they have tons of chocolate too.
all in all it is a good, inexpensive place to have a decent meal at a great price.
