ichiban japanese steakhouse

we stopped in, feeling in the mood for some hibachi. i ordered the soft shell crab appetizer and the hibachi shrimp with a side of noodles for an entree. firstly, i normally love soft shell crab, however, the appetizer was just deep fried and had no seasoning with the exception of the dipping sauce which tasted like a dressed up soy sauce. the shrimp were ok though not as "jumbo" as promised on the menu. the noodles were almost tasteless and, as far as i could tell, not hibachi grilled. one of my companions ordered the sushi which looked appetizing. while my meal was not great, i may stop in again to sample their sushi menu.

this was a nice surprise. the miso soup had great texture, not too thin, and about the best i have tasted. the nigiri sushi was even better. great place for any dinner or lunch. don't wait for your birthday. service was very good. ichiban is clean and well lit.

great place for food and celebrate your birthday!. i and my husband have tried a lot of japanese restaurant and we love ichiban japanese steakhouse because their food is great, server are nice and friendly, and the price is affordable for sushi. we love to go there to celebrate our family's birthday because they give us a fruit boat, picture, and we can win a prize also. we have a membership card at this restuarant becuase we go there frequently and that membership card give us a lot of benefit. the food i love the most in there is hibachi. some people say hibachi are the same everywhere but i don't think so. come n try it out by yourself and you will be surprised!!

fun birthday. we took my son here or his third b-day. hilarious presentation with a gong and boat of fruit and crazy chef hat. then he got to spin a wheel and win a prize. the food was good and i like that they offer noodles in addition to rice (never saw that at hibaci). such a memorable night.

amazing food!. i have been coming to ichiban for a couple years because it is the closest japanese restaurant near my neighborhood. there have definitely been many improvements in the last couple years and i think it's safe to say that ichiban has found its place at the top of the list for restaurant in allentown/lehigh valley. the food is always of the highest quality from the hibachi steak to the spicy tuna rolls. i wish i had the time and money to try everything on the menu because the food is absolutely fabulous!! the bar is also a great place for a group of friends or a couple to just hangout and get a couple of drinks before a nice meal. the atmosphere is great and the waitress/waiters are always welcoming. the birthday celebrations at the restaurants always set a great mood because the people involved are having a great time and everyone around them have a fun time watching. i highly recommend ichiban for anyone! it's a great place for a nice family dinner or even a reunion with friends. i think the prices are reasonable in this current economy. i will definitely be making a reservation for dinner here for my birthday next month!!

saturday, don and i were shopping at elias market in allentown and ran into jae chung, the owner of ichiban japanese steak house.

typical hibachi steakhouse atmosphere. food was priced similarly to others as well, but better tasting. arrived at 6:30, given 45-60 minute wait, but not sat until almost 8:00. pray you don't get stuck at the "table" with the guy who had a budweiser in his coat out in the lobby- he'll eat your chicken even though he knows he only ordered lobster.

very good.. we ate here a few times while we still lived in the area. sushi is very good. the tuna carpacio is very good. the martinis are even better. cool bar. very eclectic.

delicious, inexpensive sushi. highly recommended.

seriously cool stuff. sit at one of the hibachi grills and watch your food being made. they know how to entertain.

been here many times and have never been disappointed...always fun good service and good food! great sushi!
