excellent grilled snapper, yellow curry with snapper, sashimi and fish and chips as well as marinated chips. very good service as well

very packed, busy restaurant, for a friday night. was loud and stuffy inside the restaurant. service was average. food was great. i’d come back to try the menu again.

this! is what food should taste like! by far one of the best restaurants we’ve tried in nz. will be visiting napier again especially for this. auckland should really learn a thing or two from hm.

the staff: very friendly and know what they’re doing & serving.

the chefs: the food says it all. you can see, smell and taste the dedication and professionalism.

the oysters are delicious. crab risotto is perfectly flavoured - the crab so well cooked you can eat it whole.

sashimi was very good too. fresh.

the grilled blue nose fish & kumar w/ kimchi tastes hand made. you can’t get this in a jar or shop!

desert is also top notch - though sad the creek brule (sp?) is off the menu :(

the only hiccup i’d say is that the wine was too little - they should serve more in the glass.

make sure you bookmark and visit as it’s a must for napier.

fantastic food experience! tried the green lipped mussels in green thai curry out of recommendation from a kiwi friend... wow! so good! i usually hate mussels but loved these ones. also tried the bouillabaisse which did not disappoint. restaurant vibe is very relaxed and casual. staff is very friendly and helpful. food arrived in a reasonable time frame, portions were adequate, and prices were reasonable. i will come back and i strongly recommend you dine here.

been to this place several times. i usually like to order several menus for each meal as i have big tummy! each visit to hunger monger, some meals are so nice, and some meals are very average. this time everything was good except the snapper broth(?) with sea foods as it was too plain. i would still dine here as i like the place being casual and having nice beach view but it is not my favourite place to go.
