good food, i haven't tried sashimi.

around 60$ for two people. we order soba noodles but it was nothing special, quite tasteless to me. i highly recommend the shrimp tempura roll :)

my boyfriend and i eat at hukuya once every week, and its very hard not to come back again. the freshness of their sashimi, and amazing taste of their soft shell crab roll... and of course the amazing staff ... we can't get enough of it. hukuya is by far the best japanese restaurant i've ever been in... and trust me i've been to many!
i highly recommend for everyone to come here!

very fresh and delicious sashimi - there’s a large variety and the pieces are large. we also had the soft-shell crab - delicious. price was reasonable. udon and teriyaki beef was great too. highly recommended. it’s only a very place though, i would recommend booking in advance, otherwise it may be difficult to get a table.

quite a korean-jap place, they even serve kimchi possibly because we ordered udon. hukuya gets packed even on weeknights, and is a bit of a neighbourhood gem.

the sashimi is fresh and sushi tasty. i’d probably stick to these two when dining here, as the udon was standard and kara age chicken was so-so.

service was quick albeit understaffed. i wouldn’t say hukuya is super affordable, it’s pretty normal sushi pricing which is never that cheap, but the quality is there.

my partner and i ordered a deluxe sashimi boat and a soft shell crab roll and both of us agreed that they tasted pretty fresh and amazing! 

although it's on the pricey range, in comparison to all the other 'japanese' restaurants in eastwood, it is definitely worth the price (at least for the two items we ordered, i can't guarantee the others dishes).

we would definitely come back again!

sashimi is always good here - very fresh! teriyaki oysters are good too! other dishes on the other hand are pretty average and find its on the pricey side.

also as there is limited seating you have to get their early or prepare to wait, unless you pre-book

we come here all the time for fresh, delicious japanese food. it's a local favourite, and the service is always great. our personal favourite is the tempura tuna roll, sashimi rice bowl, and the teriyaki chicken. 

there seems to be a lot of disappointed and unhappy reviewers as they had high hopes for this place. i think it should be well noted that these guys serve traditional and comforting japanese dishes, with great service and a cosy atmosphere.

make sure you make a reservation during busy periods as the restaurant gets full quite quickly though!

nice sushi and friendly. we have been visiting this restaurant since years ago and we have been back all the time.

first of all, the people are friendly. the main chef at the sushi bar shows appreciation when you enter and exit.

the sushi are nice! i meant fresh and nice. we love it there!! :)

sushi is fresh and has a good ratio of rice and fish. soy sauce used is also perfectly salty, but not overpowering. value for money, and is a great local place to go.

this small sushi bar has always been packed with people and even during covid-19; it seems business is still going alright even the endless deliveries and queues waiting outside.it is located on the opposite corner of the eastwood train station (korean side) – you can’t miss it. the menu boasts an array of various sushis made to order by experts at the bar as well as other well-known japanese dishes including takoyaki, soba, tempura, etc.it was a splendid night as everything went by quite smoothly. the service was swift and friendly which definitely adds to this comfortable dining service.

came here for a small birthday dinner and reserved seating beforehand a week ago.

taste: 4/5
- fresh and tasty seafood, takoyaki was fresh as well as the gyoza.

value: 2/5
- overcharged by approx. $20 (maybe the employee was new), but didn't even give a receipt.
- same employee spilt bowl on the ground and didn't seem to notice, another employee came to fix up the mess
- same employee made us wait 15 mins+, didn't seem too friendly.

great local sushi shop 😍
only down point is that it is always busy and takeaway orders always exceeds the approximated time.
customer service by the older lady at the cashier is very poor and rude, but food is undeniably good.

i came here on a saturday night with my family, as my parents were craving sushi. i used to come here regularly, and thought the food was both decent and cheap. we made a reservation on the day of, i called the restaurant to make it. the girl on the phone could barely understand me, and it was very frustrating having to repeat myself multiple times for what should have been a one minute conversation.
when we got there, the service was fine, but the older woman at the cashier was rude, and couldn’t find our reservation. they have a very outdated booking system, with simply writing numbers on pieces of paper.
the food is okay, but nothing special. it came to just over $100 for the four of us though, which is pretty cheap.

very fresh seafood and their sashimi was cut beautifully.

small space and very strict on booking times, staff were only semi friendly and kept telling us what time we had to leave. not a fan of being rushed out when we haven't even ordered food.

the wait was the downfall of this place, we waited pretty long to be seated as we had no reservation. we waited approx 40 mins for the food to come out which was pretty disappointing as we already waited quite long to be seated. would deffs recommend making a reservation if you visit!
