pasta mama lacked flavor. we went to hugo's with the specific purpose of trying their pasta mama dish that was featured on the food network's "the best thing i ever ate" television show.
it was a few years ago, so i don't remember a lot of details about our dining experience, but what i do remember was that the pasta mama was a huge disappointment for us. it's basically a pasta dish (spaghetti i believe) that is cooked with scrambled eggs, olive oil, fresh herbs and parmesan cheese. although the pasta mama looked great on tv, it certainly didn't live up to our expectations in real life. presentation wise, the dish looked super sloppy and thrown together, like something a couple of stoned college kids threw together from whatever ingredients they found in their pantry; and flavor wise the dish was flatter than a two-day old beer.
we also tried the pasta papa on our visit too. if i recall correctly, it's the same dish as the pasta mama except it has meat in it (i think it was either ground beef or chorizo). the pasta papa was a little better, but still very, very bland. so was the pasta mama "the best thing i ever ate"? not even close.
