guys. there is a dosa place in vancouver that might, for real, give some serious competition to dosa from india. the best way to explain what dosa is, if you've never had it, is to call it a savory crepe. it doesn't do it justice, sure, but maybe gets the idea across. it's crispy, it's savory, comes with a soft spicy filling, and an assortment of dips (chutneys).
i have tried their chicken dosa - safest option there, hard to go wrong with chicken - and the shrimp dosa - tastes very similar to the chicken dosa, only with shrimp instead of chicken. everything else pretty much stays the same. i'd recommend both of them. their dosas are pretty huge; i'd find it hard to finish one all by myself even on a good day.
i'd also strongly recommend the chicken 65. great stuff!
pro tip #1: go on a monday. they have $5.99 dosas on monday. if garfield knew, he wouldn't be hating on mondays that much.
pro tip #2: it gets enormously crowded on monday evenings. and they don't take reservation. so what's a girl to do? go there with a book or two, put your name on the list, sit down and enjoy the book(s) while you wait for them to call your name.
pro tip #3: on days when you feel like having a bit of fun, try their paper dosa. it's gigantic. go with an appetite.
