hong kong saigon seafood harbor

saigon is one of the better dim sum restaurants in the bay area. the lines are long, but the food is worth it. prices are very reasonable.

when i asked the locals for the best dim sum place, saigon seafood harbor is the best around! it’s known for authenticity in food and in service… if you’re familiar with the asian food service industry, you’ll know it’s  subpar at best. there’s an ongoing joke in my family about one time when we requested 3-4 xiu mai trays for our 6+ person table. the waiter replied “later! later!” because they wanted to accommodate other tables also so we could only have one. never in the history of my restaurant going have i ever been so blatantly ignored. since then, we’ve learned that going really early in the morning or at slower hours of the day, you’ll get better service and as many orders of xiu mais your little heart desires.

saigon seafood harbor. modern look outside. 3rd world inside.. i cannot accept your insincere apology for the 2nd time. i cannot wait 2 hrs to pick up the wrong dimsum order 3 times at 10am on a saturday anymore. you say you give me 1 lb lobster. then you charge me $40 for 1.7lbs but it only cost $20/lb for lobster. i will not come back for overcharged lobster. you charge $20/lb and give me 1.7lbs but charged $40 to me anyway for fun i suppose. big deal is that i dont even get the whole lobster, you only give me head and 1 claw. no thank you. you tell me i come back and you give me another better lobster? i dont even want to spend one more penny in this money grabbing restaurant. bad service all day long in your place but you lucky i more care about food quality. there is no 3rd time for me. food is good when theres no people. but since its usually crowded it's like russian roulette as to whether your food will be good or bad. no consistency here. your favorite dish one day could be a frustrated mess on your next visit. for such high prices and easily executable food (we're not talking french food which takes time and care) i'm just apathetic at the quality and service. i give up on this place. always hit or miss and when its miss its like somebody fell off a cliff and forgot about anybody alive. i will never go back to this money grabbing chinese restaurant ever again.

the real reason we really like coming here for dim sum is for their lai wong bau baked buns filled with sweet taro ... people clamor for these when they come out, so be on the lookout since they only come out once or twice during service

good food bit long waits for dim sum on the weekends.

great south bay dim sum. they are known for their lobster noodles. we liked it that much we got another order.

busy place, but well worth the visit.
