alpine french toast. absolutely delicious! very filling!

great bakery. the bakery products are exceptional. definitely worth going out of your way for. the cafe could use some improvement. food is ok and better than some of the helen ga fare, but the real gems are in the bakery.

love it. best place i've eaten in helen this far.

good food, just not much of it.. went here for lunch while visiting helen. the service was ok, but our waitress spent more time visiting with one of the local patrons, than waiting on here customers. both my wife and i decided to try the reuben sandwich. we both found them to be very tasty, but somewhat skimpy. you don't have to worry about getting full here. the prices are high, but that is true of every other place in town.

boxed potatoes?? how is that even an option for 17 bucks??

great service. we had a short wait, but a long line developed after us. reasonably priced for helen. food was average. i would visit again.

after my critiquing of how they shouldn't make people wait i did get a chance to check out their food. i had their ruben and it was very good. even though they don't offer refills on coffee the waitress went ahead and refilled my cup not twice but three times. good job redeeming yourselves

haven't tried their food yet. i just know i have been waiting to be seated for about 30 minutes. turns out if you're going to eat lunch you had better come later because they don't start serving lunch until everyone who has ordered breakfast has been served. also they can't even seat you until then either. the. there's an additional 15 minute wait until you can order. i think after all said and done a sandwich will take about 1:30 minutes just because we showed up at 11:00. i asked for a root beer because it was on the menu and the waitress replied that she longer had it because no one ever ordered it, i guess i'm no one. i went ahead a d ordered a coffee but quickly realized there were no refills. i hope the food makes up for the difference.

oh my gosh i loved this place. i highly recommend skipping over the sandwiches and scooting over to the "specialties from the grill" side of the menu. sorry, cannot pronounce anything- so i'm going with the descriptions....the lean beef rolls stuffed with bacon, dill cornichons, and whole grain mustard made me want to cry it was so good. the spaetzel was great (especially when smooshed around the gravy from the beef roll) and i liked the sweet-tart red cabbage. even the rolls, (which i can be kind of snobby about) surprised me. the oblong one with sesame seeds looked so normal and unassuming. one bite with a bit of butter and i was in heaven.
my friend got the sausage sampler and i can honestly say i've never had better, more perfect bratwurst. the pretzel dumpling that comes with it is phenomenal. i loved the kraut tossed with carraway seeds as a side. i still dream about this food. i wish we ate here more while we were staying...but we may go back in a month or so and stay at a place with a kitchen...i will definitely go to their meat case in the deli and get goodies for a picnic. the meat case, the bakery case...just gorgeous. good service...wish we could have sat outside but i think they were shortstaffed. the food here is fantastic. i will be back every time!

excellent food! every small dining room but worth the wait!

my husband & i came here for lunch on our anniversary trip. we ordered reuben sandwiches & substituted the german potato salad for the chips that was $1.75 extra for each meal. the potato salad was good but i got an occasional bite of undercooked potato. the reuben was delicious. reubens often have fatty meat but these did not. the sandwiches were huge so you could easily split a meal in my opinion. the service was excellent. very quaint atmosphere. the apple fritters were scrumptious. they could be a little heavier on the apple. we had not planned on spending quite so much on lunch. it was about $25 counting the tip & not counting the fritter.

food was just ok. i asked the waitress regarding a certain dessert but she told me the people at the bakery can describe it for me. i didn't want to stand up and leave my table just to get a description, so i just decided to get what i am familiar with. she never even bothered to give me the menu for the desert. bad experience.

quaint and cozy. the breakfast items were above par and well worth the stop. bakery looks very enticing, however, my wife and i had to pass it up.

good food. this place is very small, but the food is good and the price is alright, especially when compared to other places in helen.
the little bakery makes some delicious little treats. i definitely recommend trying one (or more) of the numerous options they have. as for the food from the restaurant, the trout was really good; it was just slightly breaded but still had good flavor and the potato salad that came with it was very tasty. the "poorboy" was a decent sandwich that had roast beef, salami, and ham with mayo and mustard on french bread. not bad for what it is, but it's about as much as you would expect. according to my friend that was with us, the pastrami sandwich should be passed on. he said the bread they used and the meat itself wasn't all that good. unfortunately i didn't have a taste for myself so i can't give my own opinion.
overall, this is a really good option when you're not trying to spend a whole lot of money. pretty good food at reasonable prices. don't forget to get something from the bakery, too!

this place is really good. the german potato salad is the best in town and everything in the bakery is swish.
