i have been told i should try himalayan curry and grill for some time, and i was finally able to go for dinner with a large group. i have eaten plenty of indian food, but never nepalese, so i was excited to have something new. we ordered a bunch of appetizers, all of which were tasty. the lasoni mushrooms were especially good. simply sauteed with ginger, tomato, garlic and spices, the mushrooms were tender and packed with flavor. for my entree i went with a traditional "home style" nepalese dish, khasi ko masu, which consisted of cubed goat in a curried gravy. i typically love goat, however, i was really disappointed with this one. the quality of goat seemed really subpar. it was untrimmed and crunchy with gristle, and dry, making it very difficult to eat. fortunately, i was able to try some other entrees around the table and they were all very delicious. for dessert, i had one of my all time favorites: rasmalai, which consists of cheese patties cooked in milk syrup. the patties and milk sauce were fresh, delicate and made for a perfect ending to the meal. the servers were very friendly and helpful with the menu, though i did feel like we were a bit rushed at the end, with some of the servers pulling dishes without asking if we were finished. i will most likely be back to himalayan to sample more of their extensive menu.
