i have visited hg supply a few times, and it is consistent place for a innovative meal.  if your tired of the same kit of parts, i must say they offer new options and renditions.   i chose their housemaid quinoa burger, composed of smoky carrot hummus, smashed avocados, kalamata tapenade, baby spinach and tomato, on a toasted empire bakery bun, with an accompanying macerated kale salad.   meal was tasty, and the burger was quite flavorful.    one downside, the restaurant has acoustical issues, as noted by others as well.   but it is definitely a fun place to hang with friends, or escape solo.   rooftop patio is a big draw, along with the cocktail program.    glenn almack

i like the restaurant’s environment. i like most of the food. it’s just always crowded. like overly crowded. i also felt that the drinks were a bit pricey.

excellent quality, taste and phenomenal presentation. no send backs here. food perfectly prepared first time around for a table of 5. no hormones in the meats. best gluten free carrot cake and chocolate cake you can find. guarantee even if you are not a foody you won't be disappointed.

to be fair, the pork tacos and pork tex med bowl were robbed of their full potential by the taste mutumbo that was the salsa. it blocked any enjoyment i might have derived from the delicious pork, all due to the chips and salsa. two people independently came to the same conclusion as to its biliary taste. all i can say is that it resembled, smelled, and tasted like the bodily refuse of a night of poor decisions and character flaws aka vomit. did the chef chug great salsa and reproduce it in my bowl? it was even warm! beware and do not be swayed.

love this paleo hipster joint in lowest greenville. the menu is healthy and delicious. mussels are a bargain & so plump and fresh to fill you up. poke salad is also great, fresh and tasty. curry bowl with grilled salmon also satisfied. flourless chocolate cake.with almond ice cream is a must!!

i liked the food and wine here on both my visits but unfortunately the place got really loud and rowdy and if you are dining upstairs you get a regular stream of loud and drunk bar visitors walking by your tables. other than that - the place is good :)

the vibe and the food are awesome! with its hip and urban decor, fusion style american fair, hgs co. really has it all. whether you choose to sit in the hipster interior with brick walls subway tile bar and high bar tables for the perfect perch for people watching or the awesome roof top terrace with cosy seating, and ambient lighting. food wise the choices are interesting, prepared with fresh ingredients with little pretentious flare. ribeye was nicely marbled and cooked perfectly but lacked some flavor. honey garlic brussels spouts were a disappointment given they were charred and had no sweetness. drinks get a nod of approval but their signature cocktail menu is over rated- so go with your favorite. definitely pricey for what you get but it does feed all your senses. hgs co. totally rocks this neighbouhood with its food and ambience. must check it out! thumbs up!!

a couple of weeks ago i reviewed remedy.  later, i found out the owners of remedy also owned hg sply co.  well, if hg sply co. was half as good as remedy, i had to try it.  it did not disappoint.  a friend and i ventured out on a drizzly halloween afternoon for lunch.  we had a short 10-minute wait.  when seated, the happy waitress informed us of the restaurant’s concept.  it is simple: good, clean food and hospitality.  after our experience, i can tell you, most assuredly, hg sply co. takes both food and hospitality seriously.

top 5 restaurants in dallas serving paleo/whole30 friendly (and satisfying) dishes based on a “hunter/gatherer” premise. known for its upscale paleo bowls (pick your protein, pick your sides, and pick your sauce), but think poblano cauliflower grits, macerated kale salad, and seared akaushi beef.  a handful of sandwiches for those needing bread :) (and their fries are good too)

sight: amazing rooftop bar, perfect view of the skyline and a great place for a sunset. front sidewalk patio offers perfect people watching.

sound: crowded. difficult to get a reservation unless you book 2 weeks in advance. plan for a wait on the weekends. waitstaff is friendly and accommodating. my bordeaux by the glass i ordered was sold out so the bartender offered me a complimentary drink of my choice.

touch: lower restaurant bar area is industrial yet cozy. poured concrete bar sets the stage.

smell: n/a

taste:

ahi tuna poke salad- delicious, satisfying and a good portion for the price. large chunks of fresh tuna, paired with chunks of avocado, on a bed of seaweed salad.

sweet and spicy berkshire pork short ribs- 5 spiced rub, fall off the bone meaty ribs. served with a refreshing cucumber, mint and cashew salad-- i need to copy at home. delicious.

this is a review for lunch, when i had the quinoa burger with egg and bacon. it was excellent: quinoa isn't always the most put together on burgers and i was pleased that this was the perfect texture. fries were slightly soggy - next time i must eat them first! some patio seating outside for days like today that are pleasant.

so i know that everyone and their mom has already been here, but this was my first time (finally) and what a wonderful life decision it was. a friend and i had originally planned on eating at nora, nearby but we're disappointed that we couldn't order off of the food menu on the rooftop bar (the whole reason that we went!) we hopped over to hgs co. to try the famous bowls. the tex mex and free range were so healthy and fresh and delicious! we felt amazing afterwards. another spot worth all of the hype!

hg is a unique and wonderful niche restaurant in the lower greenville area serving farm to fork food.  there are three separate seating areas that offer different experiences: sidewalk traffic, interior rustic and rooftop view.  we sat inside where the rough acme brick walls, edison lights, and infused spirits provided a rustic distillery feel.  in cool weather, the front windows are garage doors that open to marry the interior and sidewalk traffic.  upstairs is a delightful patio with trellises, plants, open air bar and beautiful downtown skyline views.  think about sitting up here in a cool breeze with friends sampling hg's infused spirits, mimosa, or other drinks of your choice.

the service here is top tier.  they are friendly, helpful and very efficient.  everyone gets involved.  your empty plate will promptly be removed by anyone walking by.  your napkin may get refolded if you head to the restroom.  probably my favorite thing about this restaurant are the infused spirits.  our server caught me looking through the jars over the kitchen.  he ran me through each one in detail and then suggested the cinnamon vanilla old fashion (whiskey) calling it his favorite nectar of the gods.  it was divine.  the cinnamon mixes nicely with the burn of the whiskey like a traditional fireball, but the vanilla and orange create a calm smooth taste.

the food was as good as the service and decor.  we tried the sausage frittata, pulled pork tacos, and local stirfry with chicken.  all three we tasty and full of flavor.  the portions were just right.  we were full but not stuffed.  i highly recommend this restaurant.

go to hg suply co. for their roof top happy hours. the ambiance is what makes this place worth it for me. to be honest, i wasn't blown away by their brunch. for how much hype it receives, and how pricey it is,  i would have expected something a bit more unique. that being said, the sweet and spicy berkshire pork short ribs are very much worth a try.
