on my second trip to herschels inside the reading terminal market, i had a pastrami ruben and i thought i'd died and gone to heaven. it was amazing. this place is highly recommended.

best turkey sandwich!!

this may have been my favorite turkey sandwich ever! certainly in a very long time and reminded me to some ny delis in my childhood. so good i went back the next day and brought some work colleagues. so juicy and generous portion. really good stuff.

i make it a priority to visit hershel's nearly every visit to center city. order the rachel on one of the fresh, delicious varieties of bread with a pickle and potato latke. sometimes eat there, other times i ask steve and the team to wrap the pastrami, cole slaw and dressing to travel - either way, the sandwich is amazing and a treat every time. no better sandwich anywhere.

just got back from nyc and katz's and had to write a review. hershel's ruebens are better! best corned beef or pastrami you will get anywhere! don't miss out when you stop in the reading terminal market.

right across from dinic's, hershel's serves all the classic deli meats - pastrami, brisket, and my favorite, corned beef.

i had the corned beef special (russian dressing and coleslaw), and as you can see i had a heck of a time keeping the sandwich together.

i even found some on my backpack as i was putting my gear away.

hershel's is named after the owner's uncle hershel, who fled wwii era poland to russia, then to the us,

where he settled in nyc and got a job in 1946 as a cook in katz's deli on manhattan's les.

when katz's deli was sold in 1989, he retired, feeling as though he made his mark.

great selection of jewish deli foods. hand sliced corned beef. they make one of the best corned beef specials ever. great spot in middle of reading terminal market.

you're gonna need a big bite to tackle hershel's reuben
hershel’s is an authentic jewish deli counter that dishes out nyc-sized corned beef and pastrami sandwiches at a frenetic pace. my favorite is the corned beef reuben packed between slices of toasted rye, kraut and melted swiss cheese. the pastrami sandwich is killer too. you can't go wrong with directing rtm newbies to either sandwich.

very good. not the best pastrami i've had (katzs), but pretty darned good nonetheless. knish dog was different to me. so was matzo ball soup. both were good.

good solid jewish food. their pastrami is buttery and one of the best you can get. actually it’s even better than the famous delis i tried in new york city.

holly tomato... this is a "h..k" of a pastrami sandwich. well, thick, perfectly roasted pastrami - nicely pink, perfectly seasoned, a little crunch on the outside.. (and yes, a bit of fat is just so tasty). get one with the cole slaw, a bit of home-made sauce on marbled rye... and open your mouth wide (yes, it is that big), clamp down your jaws and chew away. be careful before you choke - fast eating could kill you... man, that thing is that good!
ditto for the corn beef and the brisket...
