it's difficult to find where to begin with the series of disappointments during our brunch here. the venue was not busy with perhaps 1/3rd of the tables occupied, which was the reason we decided to go there as most other places in the area were flat out (that should have been a warning sign).
the first sign of things to come was that we had to clear plates from our own table from the previous patrons after waiting a while, and then chase for a waiter to wipe the table for us. ordering at the bar was easy enough, although there was no flexibility when we wanted to swap some ingredients around in our orders (the chef says he can't add ice cream and extra strawberries to the pancakes. the chef says he can't swap chilli beans for normal beans, even though normal beans are available. huh?).
so the breakfast came out quickly enough, but the standard of the food was barely average. the scrambled eggs had clearly been sitting around for a while as they had started to go watery, sausages were cheap, and pancakes were dry with barely enough condiments supplied.
the final straw was that our coffees and drinks did not come out despite several reminders. after finishing our breakfast, we got a refund for the coffees and got out of there. the lovely girl didn't argue about the refund, and apologised that they were so busy... i wonder how they handle being more than 1/3rd full!
