interesting hole in the wall: doesn't look like much, almost turned around and walk out in fact but the owner is so darn friendly i stayed.

ordered my absolute favorite: shawarma sandwich. it tests whether they truly make it all here as the owner said or if they bring it in and just heat-n-serve. all i can say is wow! this is a darn good sandwich: wish i ordered the large instead of the small.

i tried the lentil soup: undercooked for my taste. i tried the hummus: yum, not chalky at all. tabboulli was a little oily but tasty.

i'll definitely be back to try more.

expanding my food experience.... i don't recall ever having middle eastern food, so this was a stretch for me. not knowing what to order, i relied on the owner's recommendation for a lunch plate - lentil soup, tabbouleh, hummus, chicken kabob, rice and flat bread.

while all was prepared well and fresh, i found that a little lentil soup goes a long way for me, tabbouleh even farther. however, i did enjoy the creamy hummus along with the rest of the meal. from what i could see of the other diners, this place definitely attracts folks of middle eastern heritage. that was an endorsement for me that this is the real deal. you should check them out!

i have been coming here for over 10 years and i really like it. i am very partial to the falafel and hummus. the owner and his family are very friendly.

horrible food!. do not waste your money! we were so excited to sit down and have a great meal...especially since our favorite restaurant in the same area and same cuisine had closed. the place was empty and should have been a red flag but we were starved so we ordered up. the server was friendly....but the food was horrible. we've had lots of middle eastern food so we know good from bad and this was the worst all four of us had ever had. literally everything on our platter tasted as if it was on the verge of being spoiled. the minute the chicken or beef hit my taste buds...i couldn't control the almost gut reaction to spit it out! the basmati rice tasted as if it was a week old. it was mushy yet powdery/grainy as if it had been heated and reheated over and over again. our meat was chard beyond recognition and both the beef and chicken had the exact same taste that i could only describe as..."have you ever opened up a package of raw meat and the smell that wafted into your noise was unmistakably rancid?"....well, that is exactly what it tasted like. i think the hummus was fine, however the olive oil (at least i am assuming it was olive oil) was either very poor quality or had gone bad. the tabouli was nothing but chopped parsley, onion and tomato...lacked any sort of flavor one would expect. all four people in our dinner party were so completely disappointed that shortly after we were served we got up and left. i regret not saying something to the staff. i will certainly call the restaurant to try to resolve that...but we will never eat there again.

great secret restaurant. this is the kind of restaurant that you want to keep all to yourself - and close family and friends. a small family-owned nook near campbell and plano road, thay've been here for over a decade now. great kabobs, hummus, tabouli, pita, and if the photos come out, a great squash spread and a stuffed rice and meat side dish with no name but great flavor! i can't wait to come back to texas again, for sure, i'll come back here!

try the hummus. recently expanded into a larger space, grand cafe feels like a "lunch joint" and has been around for years serving middle eastern basics like shawarma, shish tawook, kabobs, and falaffel. lunch specials are served as pita wraps, and the dinners are available with more side dishes. of note, the hummus is excellent, and always worth a side order with a stack of pita.
