really fun place that turns into a bar at night, with karaoke! the drinks were reasonably priced and it wasn't too crowded. booths for groups who are looking for a place to chat. the dance floor starts around the pool tables which can be a little inconvenient if you want to dance. definitely more of a sit down and drink bar vibe

great food, drinks and atmosphere. cocktail/spirit drinks were affordable and enjoyable, the bubble tea cocktails are amazing! food was on the spicier side, but it was still delicious.

looking for a place to hangout & kick off a sat night that also offer nice food. a friend recommended this place. have only previously walked passed this during day time, and it always seemed pretty quiet. got there about 7pm, still pretty quiet & we got a table easily. first impression was that i was transported back to uni days, in a good way ☺️. funky bar, air hockey, karaoke, cocktails, music. great chillax vibe, casual, people are there to chill & have fun. the food were also a rank above the average bar food. the izakaya style yakitori were great, along with the crispy chicken burger & zucchini fries, but absolutely love the shoestring fried with the curry ketchup! will definitely come back again on another night out!

staff wasn’t very friendly. took a long time to get a drink, would only visit this venue if it’s the end of the night and doing karaoke. otherwise waste of time.

good vibes, nice interior. the prices are quite good and the cocktails are pretty good. i love how they have pool tables and gaming machines.

sometimes i just feel like i’m on a reconnaisance mission. i’ll have just a drink or a coffee to see if the place tempts me back for a meal. or i’ll have a meal to see if it tempts me back for more meals, possibly at different times of the day. in this way, goros succeeded. i’ve been curious about such a non-descript shopfront that nevertheless gets a line up of folks on the weekend. entering on a monday after work, it’s surprisingly busy, and it’s a bizarre mash-up. there’s a karaoke area off on one side. pinball machines. a bar. booths as if in a japanese restaurant… or a food court. there’s a neon fish skeleton on one wall next to the neon pokies sign. the toilets are marked geishas and ninjas.

salaryman rejoice! there’s a bar for you to get your drink on close to central station. just don’t fall asleep on the way home and miss your stop again, okay!. enter goros; a slightly over-the-top japanese themed bar. the space has tables for groups looking to chow while they drink, and some standing room around the bar. oh yeah, there’s also a few arcade games and a karaoke room. did i mention it was japanese themed?

goros is an energetic and colourful izakaya in surry hills which offers a great hangout location for friends and colleagues to let our hair down after a long day at work. the bar is decorated with beautiful collages of anime characters and giant huggable garfield dolls.

i ordered their economical bento set for lunch ($14). the bento comes with the famous goros karaage, croquette and miso soup. the thick and bronze-golden skin was coated with spices and is a flavourful contrast to its succulent and juicy interior. the condiments - wasabi mayo and curry - were excellent too. however, the croquette seems like it comes directly from the supermarket rather than made in-house.

goros is like an 'underground hippie bar' that you find on the streets of japan. the interiors and decor are very cool and suits the japanese theme very well. it's also got like a mini arcade inside and the whole vibe is rather quirky.

in terms of food, the karaage chicken, edamame, gyoza and pork yakisoba were all super delicious, so definitely give those a try!

for drinks, we tried:

1. goros shochu infusion 'peach & yuzu' - quite a nice taste when served with lemonade, but can barely taste the alcohol
2. goros shochu infusion 'strawberry & blueberry' - really nice as well, sweeter than the peach & yuzu one
3. yoshinogawa 'gensen' umeshu - not that nice, taste a little like chinese medicine
4. kunizakari 'tanrei' yuzushu - tastes very refreshing, one of the best!
5. hombo 'green tea' - tastes exactly like a mix of green tea and alcohol
6. hombo 'brown sugar' - expect a sweeter taste to this one than the ones above
7. sake sonic - do not order unless you love the taste of bitter alcohol
8. moshi moshi #2 - love this one in particular because of the popping pearls and it's got more of a sweeter/fruitier taste to it

the decor inside was nice. the music was good old school music and loud. there was okay selection of alcohol but what really disappointed me was the security guards at the front who were obnoxious and rude.

nice japanese deco and some lovely toys and game facilities. will be a nice place to gather with friends. i would like to say it's a good place to drink beer/wine. but the lunch food is really bad. it's not real japanese style.

a little bit of modern japan in the surry hills. this is such a fun and funky place - great for group events.
the food (especially the chicken and burgers) is seriously good and the service was very quick. the price is a bit steep but comparable to other gourmet burgers.
the menu isn't huge but there is enough variety for most people. worth a visit of you like japanese inspired pub food.

a super fun place for a drink and fusion-style japanese with friends. the food was alright - tasty but not fabulous. the karaoke is definitely a highlight! be sure to put your name down as these rooms fill up quickly!

the booth-style seating works really well if you're with a group of 6 or so, but any more and its hard to find a seat.

a nice little place which was busy on a friday night. had to wait a bit to get in but the atmosphere is chilled and funky. the food is average but alright. not the best i've tasted. the crispy chicken burger was our pick together with edamame, which makes for good bar food with sapporo beer. there's karaoke and other activities as well.

the food was delicious but the service was quite atrocious. received rude treatment from the waitress who had given our food away to another customer and then, rather than apologise, blamed us for not calling out for our food.
