worst dining experience i have ever had in vegas . went there because of past reviews and reputation . first , if you a fairly tall or big person forget about sitting in one of the booth very uncomfortable . when we asked to be seated at a regular table they just gave us a blank stare. then we are asked for a wine selection but not given a wine list. once the wine glass arrives one of the stems cracks and glass goes everywhere. most of the glass was picked up but we kept finding little pieces everywhere. now for the meal very average at best.

one of the absolute best steaks we have ever had. ordered for one person and had plenty for both of us. waiter was excellent and very helpful. a bit pricey but an experience to remember.

we were disappointed with our experience at this legendary las vegas steakhouse that has been in business since the 50's. steaks...filets...were ok and cooked properly to order. my wife's twice baked potato was dry and cold. the table side caesar salad was not good. drinks that were supposed to be delivered to our table took 15 minutes to arrive. we would have ordered a bottle of wine, but our waiter disappeared, never checked on us, except when it was time to pay the check. very disappointing.

attempted to make reservations for 50 vietnam vets, took our name and number and didn't call back. called the next day and was asked "what do you want?, the sales manager is very busy" with a person like domino answering the phone they won't have to worry about being busy in the future!

gave it 1 star because you can't give it less.

go anywhere else for a better experience. 
steer you group away from the golden steer.

always a great night out in vegas. must be the oldest steak house in las vegas, central but away from the madding crowds, still has the best raw steak varieties, cooked to perfection with a full range of condiments, in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, excellent kitchen, balanced cellar, deserts to die for, knowlegable and friendly servers with that wonderfully rude italian attitude, please don't change the formula guys, it works.

not so "golden!". so overpriced and overated! this restaurant is so run down, far from an "old school" style vegas steakhouse. the only thing "old" is this restaurant and the servers. asked to sit at frank sinatra's booth and there was no plaque above our table, she said it was stolen! for the prices they charge they can certainly afford to buy another $10 plaque to put back on the wall! that's why most people dine here and expect to experience some vegas history. the steak is average and all the sides are an extra charge, be prepared to pay $8 for a baked potato! this place is really living in the past.... the restaurant is not nostalgic at all! steer yourself in another direction to another steakhouse.

went here based on magazine articles. what were they smoking? food was ok service was horrible. double charged my credit card to add insult to injury.

excellent restaurant. very old school but in a good way. classy & not pretentious at all. i would take a vegas visitor here anyday. i like that it's off the strip and the waiters cater to your every need without being snooty. this is a high end classic! everything was delicious

great steaks fantastic service. the place was aged. i felt like i back in the 50s or 60s. i kept looking around for the rat-pack to show up. i loved this place.

this is the best steakhouse in vegas. i go every year, and always look forward to going back.

the place was awesome. nice to see someone hang on this long competing with the big name chefs on the strip. worth the trip and the history there is had to find anywhere else. ny strip a table side caesar salad and the cream spinach is what i had. my wife had a filet and a twice baked potato. the bottle of justin also was just right. the hostess found out that it was our honeymoon an put us in a limo back to the strip. well worth the trip!!

fun old school rat-packy spot. i really had a great time here at the golden steer, fun kitschy place with a gaudy sign and lights that make it look like a penny slot casino. huge prime rib that was really tasty. the sides/apps were good. the service was funny, and there was a lot of service - guys in tux's were always around. unfortunately i didn't catch that they overcharged me for 2 drinks we didn't order and for a side that they inferred was included in the prime rib order. might have been a harmless mistake, but definitely left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth (excuse the bad pun). *update: i called today to let them know about the overcharge and they immediately removed it. classy.

great steaks!. i was here a couple of days ago while in vegas for a vacation. a friend of mine raved about the restaurant and told us that we absolutely had to go. i'm so glad we did! the waitstaff is friendly and funny. we skipped the appetizers, but did have some of the bread brought to the table, which was delicious. i had a salad with a vinaigrette dressing to start my meal, followed by the petite filet. the three of us shared lyonnaise potatoes, twice baked potato, and creamed spinach. the steak was cooked perfectly--medium as requested--and melted in my mouth. it's not cheap, but i highly recommend going here to anyone who doesn't mind wandering a little off-strip for a great dinner.

service was ok. guy brought us our wine in small glasses and poured it into our wine glasses like it was a pitcher of water. appetizers were ok. i will say our steaks were amazing. prices were way too high for what you got
