disappointing!!!  have been going to glorioso's  for years.  meatballs were grayish inside with odd texture  and not much of a meaty taste or feel.  the crab cake was a lump of stuffing with no fish or crab... really?  did someone take over and lose the recipes????  the larger market could be impressive, but not if quality control goes out the window.

seventy-year-old glorioso’s in milwaukee is one of several fine italian deli/groceries the city has to offer. if it’s even remotely italian, glorioso’s has it on the shelf, in the counter or in the cooler. it’s a wonderland for foodies and cooks alike.  naturally, i stocked up.  sausages. cheese. a muffaletta sandwich. so let’s talk about that.  purportely invented a zillion years ago by immigrants in new orleans, the “muff” is traditionally a nine inch round loaf, bedazzled with sesame seeds, with two or three types of italian cold cuts, cheese, and topped with “olive salad” – which is finely diced vegetables and olives in oil.

hands on service and experienced operators make glorioso's a consistent, pleasing experience. not necessarily for the cost conscious shopper, but fair pricing for the convenience and specialty they offer. excellent take-out, with the exception of (and this is a personal comment) their puzza sauce seemingly heavy on the sugar.... glorioso's is a winner.

i am so glad the glorioso's are even more successful at their new location; was afraid it might not be. but they top themselves and continue to have the best italian fare in all of southeast wisconsin. i'm partial to their homemade sausages and muffalata and lots of other stuff but those are worth the trip.

btw: the rigamarole to just write this review would not be worth it for most. just wanted to make sure my glorioso review is heard!

deli to die for!. great italian grocery with a deli to die for! glorioso's has everything you would ever need for a fabulous italian meal including fresh herbs, vegetables meats and pasta, cheeses and other staples. in addition to the wide variety of meats, cheeses, olives and specialty foods available at the deli counter, they also serve excellent flatbread pizzas, freshly made salads and savory sandwiches. nearby another counter offers fresh meats, ready-made and pre-cooked meatballs and sausages plus their own fresh made pasta sauces. (i'm partial to the puttanesca.) yet another counter offers pastries, cakes and gelato.

whether you're shopping for ingredients to prepare your own special dish, prepared foods to heat and eat at home, or ordering sandwiches to dine in or carry out, glorioso's is a great place to stock up on old favorites or explore and discover new treats. the staff is extremely helpful - particularly the deli staff. don't be afraid to ask for a taste before you purchase a new-to-you deli item. they are very accommodating. if you live in milwaukee, you have to visit glorioso's. once you do, it won't be the last time.

went down to check out the new location which is about 50 yards from the old store entrance. the place is beautiful and wide open. the pasta and wine isles in the store are nice and gave a wide selection. a great cheese and grocery selection. the dessert and coffee (alterra) area is bountiful with delicious traditional pastries. we had the cannoli cake and the dulce leche cake, delish! the fresh meat counter was full of steaks, sausages and more italian prepared specialties. at the deli counter you can order hot and cold sandwiches, calzones, salads and your deli meats for take home. i had the italian cold cut special that was loaded with meat, cheese, lto and a balsamic dressing on a killer 8" sesame seed italian bread. my wife had the caprese sub which was also awesome. please see pictures. we also had the pepper shooters from the deli case, killer. fresh quality ingredients and great personable service makes this a must stop for lunch, party run fio you and family. fyi there is a nice seating area to enjoy your sandwiches there as well!

soooo good. wanted to avoid the hassle and heating up my house for dinner so i went to this iconic deli fir some mild and hot italians. was not disappointed. very friendly staff packaged my goods "deconstructed" so i could avoid a mushy sandwich during the trek back to the oc. also got some delish pepper shooters and a great pesto pasta. this was a great summertime meal, anytime!

wow! italian food at its best!!!!. wow, what a great place this is to eat. my mother and i visited this place for the first time. i had the calzone and she had the pizza. by far the best calzone i have ever had and here is why. first of all the crust was perfect. it was not really thick or hard like i have had with other calzones. the crust was thin and did not get in the way of the sauce and meats. the hot sausage was excellent. the sauce was really good but i wouldn't say it is the best i have ever had. my mom's pizza was awesome with lots of toppings. both items are reasonably priced and of excellent quality. i don't even know where to begin with the olives. they were the best i have ever had. lastly, i live in indiana and visit milwaukee a few times a year. this was the first time i did my homework on restaurants and i just want to thank all the people who take time to do reviews. it makes it so easy to find these hidden gems and helps you to avoid places where they don’t really care about their food.

fabulous deli. this place is a beautiful italian, family owned store, that i just can not get enough of! there are olives galore, many salami choices, gelato, cheeses of every kind, and they have a great wine selection. did i mention that the employees are very kind too? i love their new deli menu: flatbreads (my favorite is the fig and prosciutto), pastas (i love the pollo con prosciutto), paninis, calzones, soups, pizzas, cold cut sandwiches (the milwaukee muffalata is to die for) and finally the hot sandwiches (beef, sausage, and meatball). yum! go to gloriosos, you will not regret it!

the new space retains the best of the old glorioso's but with a greater metropolitan feel. beautiful displays of a myriad of fine selections of cheese, deli, bakery, olives, wine, sandwiches. shopping while listening to puccini just puts you in the mood. theater at its best...bravo!

having italian roots with our family's history in milwaukee for over 110 years, glorioso's italian market is a must see portal to the old country! ciao!
