anjal tawa fry meals was decent. tasted good and was a bit oily (maybe that does the trick). cost me rs.270 in all. so, priced evenly. might try other seafood next time like prawns and pomfret.

giri manja's- gastronomical symphony of sea food!

i've tasted most of the dishes on their menu and i must say their preparations is mind blowing. you have to typically order a thali and side dishes to go with it like fish masala/tawa/rava fry, ghee roast etc.

i would highly recommend anjal masala fry, squid mint fry (the best squid ever.. so soft and succulent), prawns biryani(which is usually a sunday special) and prawns kolivada. they have a wide variety of fish which is a must try if you have a herculean appetite. all served fresh!
this place is nestled in a typical old mangalorean tiled house. so don't keep any expectations in terms of ambience.

a big shout out to the staff. very friendly and patient.

all this comes at reasonable prices. happy pockets!

taste:5/5
ambience:3.5/5(who cares as long as the food tastes amazing)
quantity:5/5
value for money:5/5

p.s: try to reach the place as early as possible because their dishes sell like hot cakes and seating can be an issue. home delivery also available if informed in advance.

some of the best seafood i have ever had. a small nondescript place on the first floor in an ultra crowded mangalore lane. about 10 basic tables and chairs, even occupied on sharing basis, limited menu. one orders a veg thali and seafood on the side. the thali is banged on the table, since everyone is in a hurry and they want to shove you out asap and maximize turnaround, comprises a huge quantity of rice, couple of standard manglorean veggies like chana gassi abbe some pickles. the veggies are not bad but are best ignored, the real deal is the seafood. we ordered squid ghee roast which is so well cooked it tastes like prawns, none of the rubbery feel squid normally has, with wonderfully spicy masala. the rawa fry prawns are also ultra fresh and awesome. the surmai fry is perfect, one has to eat it to experience it, simply cannot be described.

the fish is ultra fresh, while it is criminal to be otherwise in mangalore given it is such a large fishing centre, one doesn't get this quality in most places. the owner keeps doing the rounds and i personally find such places are run much more consistently. and did i mention the bill for 6 gluttons eating to full capacity was a princely 1000 rupees. have these guys heard of inflation?

ambience is another word these chaps seem to have not heard of but with food like this why would one even care? literal seafood heaven...

the godfathers of local seafood prepared in gsb style.

a small place with ancient house interiors, whether you're rich or a rickshaw driver, you'll get the highest amount of respect here. there are no seating issues too the maximum wait is not more than 10 minutes.

to the food, it's damn tasty and fresh.

i had ordered the following:
1) anjali tawa fry. ₹200
2) prawns dry fry. ₹160
3) bangude tawa fry ₹160
4) fish thali. ₹ 40
5) buttermilk. ₹ 20

all of them were equally amazing and perfectly fried with a gsb touch. the only problem faced is the parking, and their timing which is opened only from 12 pm to 3 pm. but then again, things in life don't come easy.

undoubtedly one of the best place in the costal area to have sea food. the anjal, pomfret and other fish masala fry and also the gheeroast are excellent and the prawns preparations are a must for all sea food lovers. even the ones who don't really love sea food start falling in love with the sea food after tasting the giri manjas preparations. a must visit place in mangalore.

have been hearing about this place for a very long time , finally today managed to have lunch here and it was totally worth the entire build up !!! im glad i visited this place ... its just way too good. the fish is super fresh and spicy... had surmai fry, prawns pepper masala , squid fry and prawns fried. the place is a very small joint with the old mangalorean style of table and bench seating. would recommend it to all who visit mangalore;) this just made my trip !!!

this place is a home turned into a restaurant with very limited menu. the limitation in menu helps them provide you a quick service and that too really really fresh. i was asked by many people to go try their fish meals. the moment it was served i see there us rice, varieties of veggies and a fish gravy with one really small piece of fish (unlimited). then i understood that i’m supposed to order fish separately. that’s how i got anjal fish fry and it was fire. i loved their style of dead spicy food. if you’re in mangalore and a non vegetarian then giri manja’s a landmark.

had been to this place last week with my friends. the whole reputation for this place is definitely for the food they serve here. ordered non veg thali which was good. cocum rasam would be a good try here.coming to the sea food ordered prawns ghee roast, prawns golden fry, anjal tawa. everything is fantastic here. definitely this place is one of the best ones for sea food in mangaluru. maybe we shouldn’t name it as a restaurant it is a local mess where the food is served quick and crowds are always expected.

fishetarians rejoice! one among the legendary food places in mangalore, giri manjas is somewhat complicated to locate. however, ask anyone around that area and they will guide you. mind you this place remains operational for only few hours a day. the fishes are yummy and well marinated.
