genki sushi

go early, fill up!. went here last night around 5:30 for an early impromptu dinner with the roommate. place was almost empty, so i didn't suffer the same service problems others have noted. (they did only have two servers on shift though, so i can see why people would complain if the place was full. our server was very attentive and quick, so no complaints there.)

prices are excellent, and sushi is definitely tasty. (it's not the best sushi i've ever had, but hey, it's on a conveyor belt. if anyone thinks they're there for an authentic old school sushi experience, they need to get their head examined.) salmon was delicious, tuna salad sushi was tasty and on par with sushi land, and their karage rocked! definitely will be coming back again. (more than likely around the same time to avoid the crowds!)

we have been here so many times that the servers actually remember us. service is great and food is good too. they recently (within the last few months) updated the menu and prices. all in all, an average bill for 2 people is about $28-32. it does get busy at the usual times and it doesn't help that it's a fairly small restaurant. when it's busy, wait times may be up to 20 minutes. so be sure to either get there early. they close around 9:30pm and they do try to clean up early. this means that the kitchen closes around 8:30-8:45pm and they try to only make requested food.

yes get there early, it is a small place, or think about take out-they have to-go boxes ready for you. very fresh and a wide variety of choices on the conveyor, plus a full menu. i had never had some combinations-yum yum green bean tempura sushi. i enjoyed every one. flavorful, prepared right in front of you and a huge selection. wished my son happy birthday! the chef repeated it asking how old he was. as a surprise he made a wonderful surprise dessert for all of us. this was my first visit, i would return once a week if i could. would like to know what their udon is like.

this genki used to not be all that good.

everything changed recently after a new manager took over. tons of variety, great service, reasonable prices. i now like it better than blue c.

i was very disappointed to find out that the prices have gone up dramatically. the cheapest plate is now $1.30. also, sushi that was once on the $1 plates (yellow) are now on the green ($1.80) or red ($2.50) plates. can't say i'll be heading there for sushi as the service wasn't great either. (i.e., udon was forgotten, no ginger anywhere, sushi chef brought wrong sushi that was ordered on the checklist, etc.). being from hawaii i was initially excited about genki coming to the mainland but now it seems like all the rest of the chains up here.

kaiten zushi.... so, this place is very close to my house, and my wife (who is from japan) keeps wanting to try other sushi places... but we keep coming back to genki zushi. it's good quality sushi, for far less than other places. even the kaiten place in tukwila is almost twice the price, but not any better.

yes, the place can get crowded, but that's a good sign, last time i checked. we tend to go on weekday nights to avoid the crowds.

it's cheap fast dirty sushi that's eatable, they need more waitresses though. every time i come here i have to wait a million years to get my check. it'll be busy as heck but they always have one poor waitress running around. cheap asian people! for heaven's sake hire another person!

service is terrible. sushi prices and the fresh salmon were the only positives for me. will not have a next time.

ehhh. i only like this place because of the prices and the variety of sushi. the service isn't great and they seem very understaffed. it takes a really long time to get seated if they're busy (the place is really small) and it takes a very long time to pay afterwards. the layout is stupid because there's not really a waiting area so everyone just stands around the register area which is located right next to the conveyor belts and it gets really crowded. even when you place orders while dining in, takes a long time to get, by the time it gets there, you've filled up on other things. even when i've done take out, they've messed up my order (charged me, but didn't give me everything i ordered). i only said i liked it because i think they have really fresh salmon and tasty plates for really low prices.
