good for a change. for the most part we enjoyed our meal. the black bean soup, plaintain fritters, and pork tacos are very good. i would not order the ho-cakes or the fried goat cheese salad again, however. our server was extremely unattentive, which would have been somewhat understandable if they were busy, which they were not. it was good for a change, but we probably won't go back. it's a cool atmosphere other than the loud, annoying choice of music. the outside patio looked nice.

bad experience. my husband and i waited over an hour. we had been quoted a 45 minute wait so i understood. after we saw another group be seated that had just walked in, my husband went to check on out status and they said they had crossed our name off the list because they "thought we left."!!! we had literally been sitting in the same place since we put our names on the list. so frustrating.

pet sitting my daughters pup and wanted to go out for a cocktail. their pet friendly patio is perfect. they always bring out water for the fur babies! if you sit in the blue chair section you will need to order at the bar. the orange chair section is full service and requires you to see the hostess for seating. we had some cocktails and cheese dip with chips and rolled tortillas. some of the chips were chewy so we gave them to the dog. the cheese dip was tasty and i really liked the tortillas for dipping!





we come here a lot because the tacos are really tasty and they have a dog friendly courtyard outside. the servers always bring our fur baby water. it’s a nice place to have some cocktails and munchies. nothing fancy, just a relaxed atmosphere.

haven't eaten here in years, but it got better!. a hidden gem for happy hour.

i haven't eaten here in years, because the food was so bad, but i returned for happy hour and was pleasantly surprised.

great prices during happy hour and if the weather is right, its the best place for an afterwork drink in downtown charleston. the food was better than i remembered too, but its still not fantastic.

100% recommend for happy hour.

soon as we pulled into the parking lot i knew it would be special. they turned a gas station into a restaurant. inside was decorated with old gas station things. the space was small but they definitely made the best of it with the perfect layout. so let’s talk about the food.
ho cakes for an appetizer. so good we wanted to order more but then our food came.
my grilled jerk chicken sandwich was delicious.
my father said his fuel burger was delicious as well. we ordered something else but i can’t remember what it was.this place is perfect. drinks at the bar. small gathering with friends and family. the food is definitely good.


next road trip we will be back!!!

ahmazing! great food, excellent service, phenomenal ambience! best french fries and sweet potato fries i've had in a long time. definitely recommend!

great small joint with mexican-inspired menu. actually has a parking lot which is a rare find in charleston. food was quick and delicious. i had the pork tacos with plantains and a cup of black bean soup. great food at a great price. i'll be back!

a fun mexican restaurant set inside a retro gas station. the patio outback is really cool and a great place to go for drinks. in my experience there the food was pretty top notch. the pulled pork tacos were very good and i would recommend trying them if you go.

satisfied again. i have eaten at fuel three times and had an awesome experience each visit. the food is great, staff is nice, and environment is comfortable. will definitely keep coming back for a good time and a very satisfying meal.

cute place. after a bad experience waiting at hominy grill, a group of us walked to fuel and were seated right away. everyone loved their meal. the sauteed shrimp salad was great, service was fast and the staff was very nice.

great outside space. i have been wanting to try fuel for some time now, and i'm glad i did. the pork tacos are awesome, and the sweet potato fries were just as good. the service started out slow, our waitress had two large parties she was tending to. one of the other waiters took notice and jumped in to take our order. the food came out in less then five minutes after ordering. i will definitely be back again soon.

black bean burger, plantain fritters. both were really good dishes. my traveling companion was equally positive with her review of her meal. it is a neat little restaurant with an open to the outside feel when the weather allows. a good ddd stop.

a loud casual place. the food was good but service was obviously for college kids who don't care about good service. if they had a wine selection i would have given it a thumbs up but only about 3 house wines that the server have admitted 'were crappy'. overall the food wasn't worth putting up with the slow and bad service.

ditch the malbec. always try to eat at fuel when in charleston. always satisfied with the chorizo burger and plantains. service was a little stressed as there was a ferocious thunderstorm.
the only negative was the horrible malbec.
