worst service ever!!! im sorry. i could not recommend this place to anyone. horrible service!!! low class place. this place is just a step up from mcdonald's. wirh a fast food type crew. no fun at all. boring. lame. dry. sad. just dead. if you want a good experience. you will have to make the commute to austin. i came here in 2007. because i lived in steiner ranch and this place was new. and u was thrilled. bad news. it has not gotten any better. wish that it had. but still a low class place. too bad.

freda's seafood grille throws a happy hour every day from 4 to 7, except for mondays, when it goes on till closing. that makes for a pretty happy hour indeed, with special prices on 11 seafood appetizers, as well as on wine, margaritas and martinis. above, the seafood-stuffed avocado, two halves overflowing with shrimp, crawfish and spicy cajun andouille sausage. freda's crab cakes are unconventionally thin, but packed with a lot of crab. in fact, they're mostly crab, dusted lightly with crunchy panko bread crumbs. they're served on a deliciously rich foam of lemon butter. the calamari is light, too, fried in a tempura batter. dipped into a freshly made marinara sauce spiked with italian herbs, the rings are tender, not rubbery. peel-and-eat shrimp are always fun. these are slightly spiced, with a horseradish-y cocktail sauce for dipping. happy-hour specials are available either on the outside deck, which is shaded by a big pergola, or inside at the bar. freda's seafood grille we

bad brunch. mother's day brunch was a big disappointment. the menu on the website looked very fair for $18.95/pp. luckily we had reservations - the place was packed with people. every time that i went to go get some salad it was empty. the servers were rude when they were asked if the salad was going to be refilled. there was at least a 15 minute delay when replenishing the prime rib, horseradish sauce and steamed veggies. there were actually empty containers for at least 15 minutes. when the steamed broccoli/carrots were finally replenished, they were almost raw. they were out of dessert before 2 pm. even though the brunch was supposed to last until 3. they severely underestimated the number of people and/or the amount of food that was necessary.

ordered red lobster tail, crab stuffed salmon and white chocolate pudding. i liked all of them. the service was also satisfying. the best seafood restaurant in austin.

pretty solid seafood restaurant. i had the grilled salmon with vegetables and it was pretty good. i went at a slow time so there was no wait and the service was good.

had lunch here yesterday and it was a very enjoyable experience! we were served mini corn muffins that were delicious and just enough bread to accompany our food. we ordered pasta and both were perfect. topped our lunch off with bread pudding, which was out of this world delish! chris, our server, was very knowledgeable and informative. all in all, a very pleasureable experience, we will be back!

went here for a nice seafood lunch and was very disappointed, they are also overpriced. the patio area was nice and had misters but the waitress sucked. she seemed like she was in a big hurry and when i asked if we could order the crabcakes even though it was lunch, she said yeah. then i asked if it was only one for $8 and she said yep "i don't make the prices or the menu." then when the check came it, the crab cake was actually $12 and she said "ouch, bet that really hurts now." i was like wtf, especially because we barely touched the crab cake because it was soft and mushy, instead of crisp. i ordered the bourbon street pasta, which didn't have much flavor and my mother ordered the fish basket which was also bland. we skipped dessert and don't plan on giving this place another try. the best part was the mini cornbread appetizer.

overpriced is right!. we also had our waiter plop down next to us at the table, so uncomfortable since he was annoying and trying just to darn hard ! the food was just ok i mean not bad tasting, soup was the best thing of the entire meal, how sad.

after my fish was over cooked and very not appealing the manager sat on our table next to my plate and asked me if "i had ever had fish before". like i was a 5 year old. unbelievable.

consistently good flavor and excellent service. lunch special is the best around.... choice of gumbo/salad/soup, entree, dessert for

sea bass. i've seen many good meals being served here.
they may have other things on the menu but i always get the seabass. occasionally with a salad or the calamari.

awesome place!. i have loved this place from the first time my hubby and i went there 5-6 years ago! it is a little on the higher priced side so we don't get there as often as i like but we talk about their crab cakes and lobster bisque all the time! we plan on going back tonight for our second wedding anniversary!

never have had a bad experience at this restaurant, unlike all other restaurants i have been to. the food does mostly revolve around seafood so if you don't like seafood then you probably shouldn't go. however, my hubby doesn't typically eat seafood but when we go to freda's he loves the 2 items imentioned above!

i am glad to see that it seems to ahve gotten busier and has stuck around! everyone that i have told about this restaurant has loved it! i am in the restaurant industry and yes i great place is not all always liked by all but this place is great! from the beautful building to the food and to the owner herself, freda, this place is a++++++! a must try if you get the chance.

what a great restaurant! delicious food, friendly and prompt service and great atmosphere. two patios for dining; one where pets are allowed. brought our maltese, elvis and he was warmly received. we had the restaurant week menu with rainbow trout and ny strip steak. prices are right.

great event place. my husband and i planned an event for a get together of a ministry school class my husband was instructing. freda asked us to pick out a menu and she furnished a nice menu that we could chose from beforehand.
