freda's seafood grille throws a happy hour every day from 4 to 7, except for mondays, when it goes on till closing. that makes for a pretty happy hour indeed, with special prices on 11 seafood appetizers, as well as on wine, margaritas and martinis. above, the seafood-stuffed avocado, two halves overflowing with shrimp, crawfish and spicy cajun andouille sausage. freda's crab cakes are unconventionally thin, but packed with a lot of crab. in fact, they're mostly crab, dusted lightly with crunchy panko bread crumbs. they're served on a deliciously rich foam of lemon butter. the calamari is light, too, fried in a tempura batter. dipped into a freshly made marinara sauce spiked with italian herbs, the rings are tender, not rubbery. peel-and-eat shrimp are always fun. these are slightly spiced, with a horseradish-y cocktail sauce for dipping. happy-hour specials are available either on the outside deck, which is shaded by a big pergola, or inside at the bar. freda's seafood grille we
