this is one of those places that really knows how to do a good salad... using great ingredients and so filling that it'll have you rolling home. not to mention this place has some killer sweet potato fries (not pictured). this place is sure to satisfy both health and brunch junkies alike!

i quite enjoyed the beetroot and cheddar waffle with grilled salmon. it was an interesting combination and everything was well cooked. the big brekky was also pretty spot on. in particular the beetroot and cheddar waffles were really nice. thought the service was a bit all over the place though. we stood at the door waiting to get our names on a list or something for a long time and everyone just ignored us without even acknowledging us or letting us know someone would be with us - we were the only people standing at the door waiting for service. we didn't get any attention after sitting down either. staff seem to be very intent to only focus on their job and ignore everything else. although the food was decent, i probably wouldn't want to line up here.

i've always seen a line here so avoided going for a long time, but on saturday i did my sleep-in-late, eat-breakfast-late trick and it worked! got a table immediately at around midday. of course i was always going to get the raspberry and coconut pancakes and they were awesome. fluffy and full of raspberries. sweet but not too sweet. my friend had a nourish bowl and it was bright and healthy looking but had nothing on my pancakes. will definitely go again.

absolutely wonderful venue! it was very, very packed over the weekend but we were seated quickly, the staff were very nice and prompt despite how busy they were and the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time.

the raspberry pancakes are an enormous serve and honestly some of the fluffiest hotcakes we've had in melbourne! the coyo is fantastic too.

the waffles again, were delicious, great texture and the sauce was as tasty as it was colourful!

red velvet latte was nice, just needed a bit of extra sugar as it's a little bland on its own. but overall, we loved our brunch and will definitely be back, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu we wanted to try!

not sure about charging $11 for a hot chocolate?! also the reluctant service?! some staff give you a feeling that they are too good to serve you. not a fan...

my friend and i had brunch here over the weekend, it has been some time since my last visit so i was so excited to have the opportunity to come back!

we sat out the back which was a beautiful setting, our waitress very friendly and attentive, she was so very helpful and accommodating.  amazing service here at fourth chapter, good job guys.

i love the menu here, some real winners that stood out. i went for the smashed avo with poached eggs. the dish was beautifully presented and was so filling! i loved the addition of the haloumi, everything was just so delicious. my friend ordered the sweet potato waffles with poached eggs and a side of spinach. the dish looked amazing, my friend loved it.

our coffees were 10/10 - happy days! this cafe was bustling and i can see why, such a charming place. a must visit if you are in the area.

oct 27th 2017 - original score 4/5

i had bookmarked fourth chapter some time ago and finally i got a chance to try this well reviewed place out. the cafe was very busy and we had to wait for roughly 20 mins or so, this wasn't an issue as we sat by the window and had a coffee until a table was available. the cafe is nice and bright with beautiful greenery, staff were also very pleasant.

the menu here is very good, it was a tough choice. the coffee here was sensational and made with love, i saw the barista work his magic - high 5 buddy you make a very nice coffee. for brunch my partner and i both ordered the southern fried chicken bao, it was really good although dry at the sides where it wasn't covered in any aioli or picked cabbage. this was such a filling dish, my gosh! haha i had to share the third bao with my partner who didn't complain about having the extra few bites.

definitely recommend a visit here.

gorgeous little cafe - had an indoor and outdoor area. my friend and i sat outside which was a beautiful little courtyard. the staff were excellent - attentive and quick to see if we wanted anymore coffees / order etc.
i ordered the savoury waffle with maple bacon - it was amazing! the sweet potato and ricotta waffle was so delicious - topped with maple bacon (which you could smell the moment it entered the area)!!! with egg & hollandaise. yum!! definitely recommend and will be back!

it’s been a while since i went to a cafe and thought everything was excellent! my baked crumble was so nice. if you love apple crumbles you will love this and it was very filling too. was a little disappointed that mine came with the labneh that had melted onto the crumble though as i’ve seen other pictures which looked prettier haha but nonetheless it was great value for money. also the best hot soy matcha i’ve had in a while! i’m very picky but couldn’t fault anything. my friend has the french toast and she also cleared her plate completely. lastly the staff was very friendly and attentive! would definitely return

ticked off fourth chapter today with friends! given it's been around for a while, there was still a bit of a wait! i started with the coconut milk golden latte, it was delicious! i haven't had one with coconut milk before, it made all the difference! i had the green bowl with kale, asparagus, sweet potato, nuts and bacon and eggs. it was quite good and very filling! a lovely cafe, beautiful interior, next time i want to check out the courtyard!

lunch at fourth chapter melbourne (last month) consist of following dishes....

▪ latest food sensation "acai bowl" which is made with coyo berries ( used as frozen smoothy), coconut wafers, granola, strawberries and peanut butter. healthy and power packed.

▪raspberry & coconut pancakes with vanilla meringue, raspberries & coconut ice cream. one of the most fluffy pancakes i've ever seen.

▪classic double cheese burger in traditional style. made perfect with age old recipe... no deviation and well made.

▪sweet potato fries... probably for that feel healthy & guilt free after feel

i have mostly experienced that restaurants owned by chefs serve better food and their passion reeks in everything from food to ambiance to service. it's a must visit place. do opt for outdoor seating if available.

such a cute cafe, interior was really gorgeous and staff were lovely. the coffee was delicious, however almond milk was $1.50 and that’s a bit of a stretch. i got the baked crumble which was 10/10; so good as it is dairy free and gluten free. my friend ordered the big breaky and they were very accommodating for switching the avocado out for tomatoes and didn’t charge any extra. will definitely be returning if i’m in the area.

fourth chapter is a hip cafe in prahran with a creatively fun menu. they definitely bring their brunch a-game! the cafe itself is bright and bustling on the weekend. the staff was friendly and attentive. my only complaint regarding the set-up would be putting four people to a tiny round table. it was lovely to feel cozy with friends but got extremely crowded and difficult once the drinks and food came.

we ordered a couple of coffees, one of which was a red velvet latte. i have to say, it really missed the mark. the flavor just wasn't there and did not resemble red velvet, but instead just a milky slightly earthy tasting latte (i assume from the beetroot for coloring?) next, we ordered the infamous raspberry hotcakes and cheddar beetroot waffles. the light & fluffy hotcakes lived up to the hype, as they were simply delicious. drenched in a sweet, tangy raspberry sauce & topped with coconut ice cream, this dish was absolutely sinful. the cheddar beetroot waffles were also a creatively tasty dish! served with perfectly cooked poached eggs and crispy-skinned salmon, the flavors of this dish really came together.

overall, i'd recommend coming to brunch at fourth chapter - the food was on point. i'd love to come back and give their fried chicken bao a try!
